Even if 343i were not a part of Microsoft, it would still cost a LOT of money, considering they would need to support all the servers to keep the original Xbox LIVE up, even though Microsoft wouldn’t sell it in the first place.
In short, Halo 2 isn’t coming back, Halo 2 Vista or XBC is your only way to play it online.

As for the old servers, they will never come back. As for halo 2 anniversary, nobody at 343 has said Halo 2 is never coming back to Live so unless you know more than 343 we’ll just wait and see.
I really dont think the number of people still interested in playing Halo 2 really justifies the cost it would take to run an entire service. Plus 343 have made it clear they are focused on the future.

That was slightly different, 343i didn’t really make Halo CEA, Bungie made the original game code, which another group called Saber did the rest.
Also, Why would Microsoft put the old Halo 2 Xbox servers back up if there’s still people playing Halo 2 Vista servers?

In post 4 I stated the servers will never be put back online. They don’t even exist anymore.
As for a remake, which is what I’m talking about, H2 needs to have it’s own MP back on Live. It’s the only Halo left out and Vista is crap, imo.
As far as focus on the future, MS sees only one thing…money. Soon I think MS/343 will see that the ‘splitting up of the community’ has already happened and it happened because they gave us REACH MP instead of CE MP. It’s pissed more people off than they think.
Hopefully they will realize that giving us H2’s original MP will pay huge dividend’s and that we Halo fans will buy every game they make. In my mind it’s impossible to split the community if they do justice to Halo 2. 343 will then have the best of both worlds and gamers can casually flip back and forth. It’s win win imo.
However, if 343 is afraid that H2 will be better than H4 (the splitting the communuty sham), MS should fire them all. Their job is to create a better Halo and if they cannot do it, it will not be the fault of H2.

I know Vista is crap, as for a Remake, it’s up to 343i rather or not it’s remade, unless some other company offers to remake it for them.

Dude, welcome to the real world, not every one can be pleased. Also, we’ve known there was going to be no Halo CE MP with Halo CEA, hell, I was happy there wasn’t CE MP, just look at all of the threads complaining about the CoOp lag, now add real MP to it, you’ll have even worse lag.

No, Microsoft shouldn’t fire them because of it, hell, there will be people that will leave Halo 3, Reach, and 4 if Halo 2 MP was back online. There are people who LOVED Halo 2 and said it was the best game ever.

I don’t know why you kept saying it’s up to 343…of course it is so the meaning of your post and redundancy was baffling.
Halo CE MP would have done just fine on Live because Halo 2 did just fine on live. Like Frankie said, they were afraid of splitting up the community and that is why they messed with CE, it had nothing to do with lag. What he and others at 343 don’t understand is that very move created a split where there would have bee none.
To me, you can’t split the Halo community unless you do a disservice to a beloved game (CE comes to mind). If 343 remakes H2 and gives us the H2 MP again there will be no split, or leaving because all us Halo fans would do is play one game for a while and then play the other. We will buy all installments so there’s no split whatsoever.
As far as money, MS makes money on games by selling disks and attracting new Live accounts. Most of the Halo community is already on Live so there’s no big revenue there. MS will make millions selling disks and hopefully it will attract people from the other online platforms. If they produce H2A in Nov of 2014 it will not hurt other Halo titles, they will all get sold…if H5 or whatever game it is has bad sales, it will be because 343 did not do a very good job and not because of anything Halo 2. We’ve already demonstrated that if the game is good enough, it will sell.
343 needs to have the mindset that they can give us a new game that is good enough on it’s own. If a remake gives the new game a hit, then that new game was not good enough.
Okay, their is a long list of reason MS of not bring back the H2 server. Can I name them, NO. So make a virtual XBL and a virtual halo 2 server that you are host to make it happen.
Just wait for the ten year ani version we will get inbetween 4 and 5.
