Why don't we take a page out of CoD?

And add in a “Classic” playlist where all the Spartan abilities and sprint are disabled and it’s back to Halo’s roots. That way all the old cranks can stop complaining about how Halo isn’t Halo anymore and people who complain about the old cranks’ complaining can stop complaining. Win/Win scenario. Plus it seems fitting since the next CoD wants to be Halo so bad :stuck_out_tongue:

No, let’s get a classic game and you get a “modern” playlist. Win/Win.

You can never be happy with a compromise, can you?

I would love a classic style playlist right now, but it would still be a pile of garbage with terrible party restrictions, and god awful servers.

What’s wrong with my proposal?

No one is ever happy with anything either in gaming or in life. There’s always people who complain. Best we get use to it or make a compromise to get use to it

Normally I’d respond by saying “if we borrow any more pages from COD, we’ll be able to publish a hard cover”, but I like this idea, A LOT.

The devs just need to be sure to increase the base speed back up to where it is supposed to be.

Because it would be a dead playlist.

Exactly. The amount of people asking for a classic playlist aren’t necessarily indicative of how many people would play such a playlist.

Whats wrong is that in theory that means developing spartan abilities for a single playlist and excluding them out of the game in every other aspect, which is massively inefficient, whereas OP’s original proposal means the rest of the game gets the advanced abilities, and the classic playlist simply disables these abilities. Does that make it clear as to why OP’s win-win is a better win-win?

No. People don’t want to play only one playlist that’s devoid of the problems they’re concerned with. They’ve been doing that for six years. They want a full game without these problems.

How do you know for sure? You can’t be certain. They just have to turn everything off and forge our class maps.

Give them gold and they will complain that it is heavy.

I see why those players are concerned, however I dont think those players are typically going to sustain Halo for the future, a lot of players who was this classic experience and go on about the old days are approaching an age or a stage in their life where they may not even play games in a few years because of jobs, families etc.
Pandering to these players needs will prevent the game from being adapted to the current market. Yes old Halo games were great and successful, but they were great for those players, and successful in that market, and the games industry is no longer the same market

Didn’t Halo Reach try something like this and failed pitifully?

  1. Age is a cop out answer. I know people in their 20’s and 30’s that play games and some of them are married and/ or have kids. You can bet people in similar situations (and older) are even on these forums. Just because you have a family that doesn’t mean you just stop playing games.

  2. There’s nothing to adapt to in the current market. There never is, you just do what’s best for the game. Modern Warfare didn’t adapt to the market, Destiny didn’t adapt to the market and Overwatch didn’t adapt to the market.

What he proposed is a compromise though.

But you don’t want it because you realize the person getting the dedicated playlist is the one getting the short end of the stick.

Personally I have no interest in returning to classic Halo and without statistics, I can only speak for myself.

Halo 5 isn’t a bad game. People are unhappy about it because it’s not like the old ones. A classic playlist or two may allow people who want an experience like the classic Halo games get it. It will not satisfy some people, and it would be a band-aid fix at best, but a classic playlist is the absolute best thing that could be done at this time. Until Halo 6 is seriously into development, nothing more can be done.
I mean, I’d play the crap out of a “Classic” playlist.

I think Halo needs to cater to all the new fans its got in Halo 5.
