Why don't we just talk to the aliens?

We shoot countless aliens, but we never stop to try and talk to them. To understand them. Cant we all just get along?

Cuz you see, at the beginning we kind of tried but failed (Turns out hand signals are not adequate way of communicating with extremely aggresive simian species)

Before the Humans and Covnant were involved into a total war. The Prophet of Truth discovered that the humans were either descendant of the forerunners meant to carry on their work after their demise. This information would have rocked the foundation of the Covenant as they believed that the forerunners ascended into godhood and not suicided, which is why Truth when elevated into Prophet decided to go on a genocidal War on humanity because otherwise the entire Covenant would have been destroyed by this revelation, to which Truth thought us humans more or less knew

For the Covenant Remlnmant: tThese are all extremely fanatical to their religion so they think that humans must be annhilated because of them destroying the Halo rings and such

Also, its not like the UNSC has not established allegiances eith aliens: They are currenyltly allied to Thel Vadam’s (The Arbiter from H2 and 3) Elite faction and a brute faction that managed to come out on top while the brutes were fighting one dnother

aliens are our friends too!

Talking isn’t really my strong suite.

New Spartan ability confirmed: Negotiate. Press every single button on the controller simultaneously and your Spartan will attempt to diffuse the situation by calming explaining where he’s coming from, past experiences, his side of the story, etc.

“thought I’d try talking my way out. Mix things up a little.”

Pretty much this^

The covenant, old and storm versions, are too fanatical to be reasoned with. Its only those who learned the truth, and managed to escape death, that were willing to hear reason.

Spoiler for those who did not see the H2:ann. Terminals

Heck, even the Heretic leader wanted to talk to Thel about what he had learned from Guilty Spark. But later realised that, if Thel survived Halo’s destruction, he would be punished, branded as the Arbiter, the tool of the prophets, thereby no hope to get through to him.

Because Tank beats Everything.

In case you didn’t notice, Chief isn’t really the talkative type.
