Why don't Spartans have this?

If the Covenant soldiers can turn invisible, why aren’t Spartans and ODSTs equiped with infared vision?

It would have made finding Brute Stalkers in ODST firefight a lot easier.

Because that would be too easy/ruin the fun. In the book “halo: the flood” marines did use thermal imaging to hunt down camo elites running rampant in the base so the tech was kinda sorta out there

Well, I guess you’re right.

I am sure the armor has it since you can edit the light intake and such.

That stuff is in the canon it just isn’t brought up not to mention there aren’t many instances where camo is brought up in the books.

In canon, yes I’m sure that’s STANDARD equipment.

Gameplay wise…just imagine armor lock but with vision, get my drift?

Thats not even a reason: the only armor that was actually created with the covenant in mind were MARKS VI and VII. The Early versions were just for fighting innies and Mark V is just IV with shields.

That tech is kinda sorta out there today.

Which means that more than 500 years in the future it’ll problably be standard issue. (if not replaced by something superior)

Mostly just gameplay reasons.
