Why don't more people use Plasma Caster in WZFF?

Because its amazing!

If you always charge the shots it does a huge amount of damage to bosses and has far more ammunition in than any other power weapon. At just 3 req it gives you a huge bang for your buck. The only trick is to avoid shooting directly at enemies like knights and hunters which can deflect the shots. Just aim at the ground or nearby objects. Also the larger vehicles and bosses will soak all of the AoE damage; making it much better against them.

Because some bosses like the knights usually stand still and the weapon is AoE you can even almost use it as an artillery piece; say the cityfight map where the Knights are behind a wall of Prometheans. Just shoot them from the garage.

But yeah, I’ve pretty much wrecked whole boss waves by myself. I can’t imagine what 3 or 4 people with this weapon would do to the heavier units like the Warden and Goblin.

I just don’t know why more people don’t go for this weapon in Warzone Firefight. Try it next time you’re on. Charge your shots and aim at the next boss you see.

The Plasma Caster is quite a formidable tool against bosses, for sure. However, it runs of out ammo relatively quickly. Why use that when I could use a vehicle that doesn’t have ammo limits, therefore can potentially last much longer, being a better deal for the amount of REQ points I use?

I know! the plasma caster is amazing! And actually because the grunt goblin doesn’t stand still for very long, the caster isn’t very useful against him, but the warden? Oh man, you can take down the mythic warden 1v1 with the caster.

I would usually agree with you there, but what about when the bosses are in the back of a home base or just somewhere that vehicles aren’t really able to reach. And what if there’s too many vehicles already out and it would only be more of a cluttered mess if you got another vehicle out there? that’s where I think the caster becomes the best choice, then the area is too congested to have any vehicle use.

I love the plasma caster to bits, it is so helpful!

In my idea of fighting enemies, the Plasma Caster is not one of my favourite weapons. If the Plasma Caster is your favourite weapon, I’m fine with it. Thank you.

Because while a Plasma Caster is good, a Ghost Ultra is better and costs almost the same amount.

I almost solely use them against Grunt Mechs.

Yeah, that thing is op on wardens. (especially the scourge of fire)

I bring them in when you can’t get a vehicle near the boss. The work great in those scenarios!

All good points. That being said, I’ve never encountered a situation where using a vehicle was not viable. Even in those situations where bosses are in the back of a base or in a tight spot, I’ve always found a vantage point from where I could fire.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think the Plasma Caster is a fantastic weapon choice against bosses, I’m just giving my opinion on the matter.

Plasma casters are great for Firefight

I use it a lot for some of the fights where the enemies are bunched together. Off the top of my head, the Promethean Soldiers that hang at the top of the armory on March on Stormbreak, that’s one I always use it at.

Plasma Casters are great for blasting apart clusters of enemies and messing up bosses, though for the former, I love going nuts with a Gravity Hammer.

Yeah, since the update the plasma castes is better

Ghost Ultra [third favorite ground vehicle] is a lot better than Plasma Caster [better than Concussion, not as good as Brute Shot]

Well if you charge each shot that’s, what, 15 shots?

Also, what can you get for REQ level 3? I am sure most of us will be saving our Wasps for multiplayer, a standard ghost is very fragile and IMO they tend to get shredded pretty quick. A warthog is suicidal. One advantage of being on foot is that its easier to hide and pop in and out of cover shooting your Plasma Caster. So potentially is the key word. Also it does a lot more damage in a shorter space of time than the standard ghost.

Even better is when you get to REQ level 7, and get a standard Caster and a Scourge of Fire. You can dish out a crap ton of damage, and have ammo for days.

I use my Wasps almost exclusively in Warzone Firefight, since I can easily survive into round 4 or even 5 with them, especially if I’m using Wheelman. Otherwise, yeah, I’ll use a Sword Ghost, which will allow me to get a good amount of kills, especially if I’m spending time ramming enemies with it.

Both being on foot with a Plasma Caster and being in a vehicle have their pros and cons, it all depends on your playstyle.

I love the plasma caster, but it’s a tough sell on Warzone. The maps are really big, and the lob of the grenades is both too short and too slow to respond to threats from the most common ranges in Warzone. Obviously when you’re in a base things are different, and I’ve definitely spawned with a caster when my base was under attack. The charged shot is not great against other players unless you get the drop on them, as usually you’ll die before they do, and sometimes before you can land the shot.

But I quite like it for firefight, if I think there are enough vehicles in use and there’s a big, slow target. It chews up wraith bosses fast. And phaetons, if I can nail them.
