FF Ltd is the only firefight with, you know, an element of survival. But for some reason, only like a hundred people play at any given time. Why do more people play arcade, where there’s infinite lives, infinite ammo, and basically no challenge at all. Is it because somebody put “limited” in the title?

To me, and I’d say most players, arcade has more of a “fun” element. You can’t start with a Rocket Launcher in limited!
I agree, nothing beats completely owning Covenant with gigantic guns, but still, I just wish the population size of Limited were a bit bigger.
Limited doesnt have the same survial feel as ODST did. Thats my reason at least.

This.
ODST was about survival b/c you were vulnerable. Now in Reach you’re a Spartan again and you’ve got armor abilities to help you out. The survival element is completely gone now so it’s gone from a game of who can survive the longest to a game of who can score the most points in the time allowed.
If people want survival again then they play the final mission of the campaign which is much more tense than limited.
lag and bad players ironicly
FF is for the most casual of casual halo players. What do you expect?
I used to love playing Firefight Limited, unfortunately other people and payouts ruined it for me.
1.) Griefers… players who waste all the lives immediately.
2.) Idlers… just as bad as greifers except your lives may last a little longer.
3.) Payouts are based on game length. I think Limited matches have a max time limit as long as Arcade. Unfortunately due to #1 and #2, it’s more worthwhile for me to just play Arcade and have my matches last longer than the first wave of Rocket Elites and get a much better payout per game.

Only saw a griefer once, and he quit pretty on.
Idlers get booted pretty fast nowadays.
I never got to the end of a game. Most of the time the game ends when the evil Elites come out.
Griefers and it still doesn’t grab me like the ODST FF did.
The only firefight I can play is Score Attack, all the others require a hard drive just like co-op campaign, the theater, and file share. So I’m stuck playing multiplayer.
I think if they treated firefight limited the same way they treat things like Team classic then they could just recreate Halo ODST as best they can and call it Firefight Classic.
- AR/Mag starts
- No Elites or Skirmishers
- No armor abilities
- I think Reach’s lower jump height and slower movement speed is good enough for ODST standards.
Thoughts?
I get the AR mag starts and maybe no AAs, but why no Elites or Skrimishers? Those guys are much more badass than Brutes and Grunts and regular jackals.

b/c if it’s going to be based off of ODST than it should only have the enemies that were in the game. This is likely why a Classic Firefight gametype hasn’t been made yet though.
Credit payouts are huge in Arcade and low in Limited. Since most FF players are credit farmers, they avoid Limited. So, the lag is terrible. 100 players worldwide on the playlist is pretty much unplayable.

A full game payout is about the same… it’s just that games in Arcade will tend to last much longer due to the idiots playing Limited and wasting all the lives.

No. An Arcade game using an unlimited rocket launcher will gain you 2-3x the credits of a Limited game.
