Someone tell me, please.
To get the Blue Flames armour effect (Eternal), you had to link your XBL Gamertag to Bungie.net before the deadline. I had done this WAAAYY before Reach even came out, so shouldn’t I have the armour effect?
I only missed Bungie’s departure because I did not have XBL at the time, but I have poured countless hours into Halo. I’ve been with Bungie right from the start of Combat Evolved, and I think it’s a bit unfair that I don’t get the Blue Flames, especially seeing as I did what was neccessary way in advance.
So, is there any other way to get the Blue Flames? I feel a bit cheated after standing by Bungie all this time and then not getting their last gift just because I couldn’t afford XBL at the time.
Also, I did download the Bungie app on my phone during the 2 weeks you had to get the Blue Flames.
If you did all the necessary stuff, then all you needed to do was set your NAMEPLATE to the BUNGIE nameplate. I don’t know if this even works anymore, since changing your plate on BUNGIE.NET only seems to effect it for the site and not for the game. Sadly, there is no other way to get the flames.
The had checked the website once in those 2 weeks, that was when I first dicovered the feature. I did not have a “Bungie” nameplate, so I set it as the Halo 2 logo.

If you didn’t see the Bungie nameplate option on the nameplate selection, you didn’t do something right, you could have also gotten the Bungie nameplate via their site for a while too.
If you haven’t got the flames now, you won’t ever be able to get them.
That’s really unfair. I see people on these forums saying;
“If you don’t have Blue Flames you’re not a true Halo fan”
This really pisses me off seeing as I’ve been playing since CE Day 1, and most of the people with blue flames would’ve started playing with Reach.
I’m kind of annoyed that Bungie give all these guys a goodbye present, but due to irl problems it was impossible for me to get it, even though I’ve been a massive fan for 10 years. #pissedoff

Those would be the individuals who believe they are better than you, and everyone else, and will find any reason as “proof” of it. They are also the people that when karma bites them where the good Lord split them it’s fracking hilarious beyond reason!
You don’t need something material to prove you are a true fan of anything. The people who have it, only have it because they just happened to hear about a way to obtain them or were very lucky. When the announcement was made I was busy with an ill family member and could not get on to get them. I’m bummed out about this but, in the end it’s only an armor add-on and it’s not like you get something from REACH stating you’re an epic fan.
I measure my fandom in other ways. For instance on the BUNGIE.NET Forums I am an Exalted Member and you don’t see many of those around. I own a launch day copy of each HALO game, and I own many of the books and comics and other items from the franchise. I don’t need to prove my fandom to myself or anyone else, my love for the games and the story itself is proof enough.
