Why don't 343 employees post apparent responses

As is typed, why don’t 343 employees post short responses with stickies reassuring your fanbase that you are working on resolving the issue? Such as the halo5 crashing glitch? 343 needs to work on the games, yes- but they have to minimally interact with the players.

The Forum team usually responds to posts in the support forums and directs issues to certain threads to track issues, they were doing that last week / over the weekend with a few different issues (game saves crashing)

The company may have a very strict NDA policy.

Then why aren’t they responding to a much bigger issue regarding Dedicated servers? hmmm…

They do actually do this though not always on the forums. Other developers have done the same thing in the past with mixed results. If they say they are aware of a certain bug and are working on a fix for it and when the next patch comes out and said fix isn’t in the patch then the whole community goes in rage mode. Yes they aware of the bugs but fixing them isn’t always as easy as flipping a switch.

343 employees don’t visit their own forums. One would think that 343’s own website would be the place to go for interaction with them, but instead you need to go to places like Twitter or other people’s forums(neogaf, teambeyond, etc).

No but a post saying they actually read the thread is always helpful, they don’t have to promise instant action but acknowledging things is nice…

they need to learn for other company’s do interaction on forums they run , like Blizzard have a team motoring and replying in threads like this all the time , issues get resolved and addressed or they explain why things are working the way they are .

343i would love to have a player base as vast as Blizzard do though

343i should make their own forum posts to be read and be able to organize the posts. Yes it is easier for the community to make the posts, keep in mind there are others that complain and make random ones. But if we have thoughts or noticed bugs on a specific gametype, it will be narrowed down in one source. Community posts about any cheating or bugs, etc are constantly lost as others make different or same posts.

I’ve wondered the same thing. They only announce stuff on other forums or twitter.

And they would have us believe that this is the official site for all things Halo…

Exactly. Bungie devs used to socialize with their fanbase back in the Bungie days e.g. talking on forums, creating community videos, showcasing community favourite maps and gametypes.

Can you blame them?

Would you want to go into a hostile environment where the majority of people are constantly criticizing your work and complaining no matter what you do?

False

Every modern game has crashes. Tons of them. Some more common than others, but most are seemingly random one-offs; even an issue with a 0.001% chance of occurring will happen to somebody when there is a large playerbase. It’s literally impossible to fix every random crash in any game, but if you’re seeing something consistently and can reproduce it then give some details out and maybe you’ll get a response or even a fix. This is just how it is for all games these days.

If I was a 343i guy I would never come here to converse. This forum is crazy.

I’ll be honest here, I post negative stuff like everyone else, but I try to be fair and give praise where I can. I think there would be a lot less negativity if there was community engagement in the forums. A lot of complaints just snowball when there isn’t a reply from them. It would be great if they had a community engagement team that replies to major threads, and then locks them so that people see the reply. I don’t want promises of instant action, but acknowledgments of issues and commitments to listen to the community.

because general subforums are toxic and filled with Flood (old b.net reference)

they tend to hang out in technical subforums or in the help sections

I don’t think community engagement would help these forums at all. There are a majority of forum goers on here who are only here to post multiple threads saying “343 ruined Halo! Bungie should take bake Halo cause Bungie is awesome and can do no wrong! I am returning my copy of [Insert latest 343 release here] and you should too!”

These people are so toxic that they try and stamp out any comments that have 343 in a positive light.

If you were giving a speech to an audience that were genuinely happy to hear your speech but you heard “You Suck!” every 10 seconds you wouldn’t want to keep speaking either.

343 are too busy rolling in REQ money.
