Why don’t you just listen to the fans?

I’m sick of seeing great games get ruined by money hungry companies who don’t care about their fan base or reputation… Is the entire company and everyone that works there on the same mindset that these games should all revolve around micro transactions? Does nobody feel guilty or disappointed to support these decisions? Halo WAS a ground breaking fps that has great foundations to build on and this is the direction you chose to take it? Any and all effort I put into this game is absolutely useless… You poorly design a system that is based around cosmetics (half the ideas are ripped out of destiny IMO) that are supposed to represent your skill and effort in multiplayer, but then you introduce micro transactions that allow you to buy not only the same, but even more unique cosmetics?? What is the point in playing the multiplayer if this is how progression works… It’s a shame because so much time and effort was put into this game in terms of visuals and gameplay mechanics, which we appreciate… but if you take out the need for progression within multiplayer then it was all for nothing… As a long time fan of halo I’m deeply disappointed, and I’m not looking forward to finding out if you have butchered the campaign as well.

I really hope someone at 343 gains some sense and puts a stop to these decisions… it’s ruining the gaming industry. Please just listen to the fans and make the necessary changes to save this title.

I’m going to second this. I don’t think I’ve ever made a post on this site, and for good reason.

343i I have held out hope. After halo 4’s blatant deviation from the formula, I held out hope. After halo 5’s cheap money grab and randomized unlocks, and even further deviation from the formula. I still held on to some level of hope. Then the first whispers of infinite. I allowed myself to get excited, I signed up for the insider program to get the juicy first taste. I’ve played halo since day 1, and have loved every minute of it. I want to love infinite. Dearly I want to love it, but this monetization system makes me want to quit forever. I love the multi-player, I’m dying for the campaign. The experience is completely ruined for me though, knowing that, as a human being working a normal life schedule may never unlock the armor that I want. Ever since armor permutations launched with halo 2 it has been a staple of the experience, and for a second time you have robbed the player of the armor chase.

I recall during a vidock.“There will be nothing that you cannot obtain strictly by playing the game.” That came from one of your team members mouths. Here we are at launch and… 20 dollars, for an armor, shoulder pads, and the color white… a third of the cost of the full game… for an armor core… pads… and the color white…

You’ve killed this halo fan. Without changes to this system halo will forever be a memory for me…

Oh my god. The game has been out for 2 weeks calm down. 343 has already shown numerous times that they listen to the community and I’m sure they will address the issues at hand. Majority of this community is toxic. Please provide constructive criticism for anything, but to say 343 doesn’t listen to the fans is absurd

The absurd part is that 343i thought that a lot of what they are doing would go down well with players. Is it really toxic to think “why wasn’t anybody in the room to say maybe this is a bad idea? Maybe this battlepass is a little too predatory and we should provide more opportunities for free players to earn cosmetics, or currency to get the battlepass. Armor coatings didn’t go down well with the destiny community, why would they go down well here? We’re still charging 60 bucks for the campaign, maybe we shouldn’t treat the players who get that as free players.” Why are we assuming these things were done in good faith?
Saying we don’t like this, and please change it is about the only constructive criticism we can provide here and if we don’t tell them what we don’t like, then they won’t change it.

guys in my opinion you should just chill 343i said theil fix now let them rest they had a horrible couple of months for the final strech so you dont get a broken game that cant be played id rather have a sistem like this than a broken game whit a perfect cosmetic sistem. Shouting at a fireman will not help your house from being burnt down
And i dont get why people say ist predotory ist not free to play ips have the same sistem just minor ajustments the only thing they can do is to ad somthing cooler to 2000 credit cores and ad credits to the pass just chill changes will happen after new years at the earlyest
(P.S. not that good at english so pls spear me the corections )

Tell them what you don’t like, provide criticism. But to say 343 doesn’t listen to the fans? It’s a toxic community. Look at all the top posts in this forum, its all negativity, “343 is evil”, “greedy” etc. and the posts that provide legitimate constructive feedback gets pushed down and no one reads or comments. Look at MCC, 343 had a rough launch and spent years continuously updating and providing new content to the game. There track record speaks for itself.

As for the campaign, price is debatable man. You’re telling me games today, which look stunning, provide more content, and they cost the same as a game from 10-20 years ago? BF2042 is just a multiplayer game, just came out, is hot garbage, and that costs the same as RDR2 when it released. Price is up to you and if you want to spend the money on it. Most games today I just wait till there on sale.

Well there are things that 343 didn’t listen to us on. As an example, during the flights people were criticizing the highlight system and saying that they want team colors. Here the game is and there are no team colors. It’s a fact that they didn’t listen to us on that issue, so it’s a fair assessment.
I can agree that saying “343 is evil” is toxic but saying they are greedy is just another way of saying " I don’t like the monetization of this game" and these are top posts because this is a popular sentiment among players

My point with the Campaign being priced at 60 dollars was to bring up that, this game is not actually free to play for a lot of people and that we are getting a free to play monetization model that is one of the worst out there for what is, in my mind a fully priced game.

Yeah I agree with you there. I’m not a fan of the highlight system either. I’m not saying 343 isn’t perfect either. I can say, as someone who plays COD, the monetization in that game is just as predatory. and you’re paying for the multiplayer as well.

They’ve always advertised the game as Free-to-play with campaign being a separate purchase. Just like Fortnite is free-to-play and their campaign is a separate purchase

I agree on these points, but using titles like “Why don’t 343 just listen to the fans” is what will likely get this forum locked, and the forum posts that provide the same criticism but aren’t name calling are already pushed down below all the toxic posts. Like Inunderstand you are frustrated, but please keep the toxicity to a minimum, provide constructive crisiticism, and with enough people rallying behind the same forum post, will urge them to fix these problems. That’s all I have to say. Just keep it civil

I gotta ask. If someone feels like 343 isn’t listening and that is a problem they should work on, is that not constructive criticism? I think it is.

I do agree that name calling is not okay and doesn’t contribute anything to the discussion but I also think it’s caused by players feeling like being level headed and providing constructive criticism hasn’t gotten them anywhere. There is a reason they lash out and it’s not okay but it shouldn’t be completely dismissed either as you’ve pointed out, there are non-toxic posts containing the same criticism.

I’m not saying 343 has to listen to everything that every player says but when popular topics go unaddressed, they create the toxicity.

Infinite is legitimately a good game, but because of how they’ve watered down player expression to pursue monetization is damaging, especially in the long-term.

Halo had plenty of avenues for people to express and creative their own Spartan, but in Infinite to even participate in a fraction of that past experience you’ll have to pay more for less

Don’t get me started on the hideously tedious progression system that promotes a negative player experience.

I appreciate the reply explaining your point of view, and yes, people can unleash their pent up frustration, but the reason I want it to be civil is because the more civil people are, the more likely the developer is to see this, read it, and act on it. Like don’t get me wrong, we all want the same things to change here. I’m just trying to create a positive atmosphere, with constructive criticism, not a toxic atmosphere where we all say 343 are bad. I hope that kind of clears the air with my intentions.

Ske7ch said they have heard what we’ve been saying in a vague comment:

“Been traveling so slow to respond - but please know the constructive feedback is being heard loud and clear. Changes will take time and our priority this week is giving the team a much deserved break for the holiday after a long final stretch. Thank you for understanding.” - Twitter

Which fans the ones Tha beg for an exact clone of 3 or the fans who want apex movement. What about the fans who have no problem with cosmetics and progression because it doesn’t matter to them or the fans who complain a lot about it. Do we listen to the fans who want the at buffed or nerfed. What about the ones who want aim assist on or are the one who want it turned off or lowered more important?

Wouldnt surprise me if they built the cash shop first and then built the game around it. That’s just how things are these days, I’ll probably be going back to MCC after a campaign playthrough.

Cool but what about the flights? None of this feedback is new, they just ignored us.

You dont need a clone of 3 to put game modes in your game, or playlists, or lobbies, or clans , or an account based leveling system etc. etc. etc. the list goes on.

I’d honestly believe this isn’t what 343 wanted and this is just higher ups trying to push for more monetization.

At least I’d like to believe it.

They do it because they want to take out or squeeze all the money out of the fans.

It’s 343, they barely ever listen to fans,

Playable elites? No.

Dual wield? No.

Assassinations? No.

Forge at launch? No.

End of the match XP? Gotta wait until may.

And on top of that is the terrible monetization of the whole game basically milking you for money.

I just made a post on here that if you activate a double XP boost and you have to log off for whatever reason that the time still ticks away and you waste it. It’ll probably never get fixed because they want more $$$.
