I just don’t understand why they would go through the trouble of making different prosthetic models for each armor core and then not use the design from Reach for Reach’s core. Just something I noticed loading up MCC the other day and saw that Kat’s arm was completely different from what we got in Infinite.
We aren’t playing in the time of reach, we are playing the mjolnir mk Vb armor in the time of Infinite. While the armor system stays the same, the prosthetics are more likely to change as they are a basic human medical component and not an actually part of the Spartan program back in 2552.
It’s also decently likely that Kat’s arm was a custom job by herself and not indicative of what a normal prosthetic would have been at the time. (Ignoring how everyone got that arm in multiplayer. No reason to not reuse the asset in that title, same reason it’s always the right arm in that game)
In addition, her arm matches her build and armor style. It’s thin and designed to always be the full shoulder down and jive with her streamlined appearance. She’s the least decorated member of Noble Team, so it makes sense that her arm would be barebones as well.
The prosthetic arm honestly always looked wonky and unbalanced on the male character model in reach because it was not designed with their figure in mind. Infinite is a new game on a different console, so the entire model is being rebuilt. The prosthetics are getting a new round of attention and more options by way of cutting it to different lengths
Imagine if the transradial prosthesis was just a pipe sticking out of your bicep. It wouldn’t look very balanced or cohesive with the rest of the core’s design.
