So I just watched that montage in the news section and I swear that guy must be using a different version of the AR than I use. Some of his kill times were like 2 seconds, even from far away. Like the guy at 2:46. There should be no way he won that battle with an AR from that distance. What am I doing wrong? I try to aim for the head as much as I can with it. Any other good tips?
Aim for the chest
That’s your problem. Your aiming for the head rather than the center of the body. Unlike COD or other generic shooters, there is no headshot multiplier with the automatic weapons. Only scoped weapons get the bonus instant kill if you are aimed at the head.
While the AR does have more range and power, you need to be sure to get in close anyways and don’t challenge at range (you can peck them with burst fire but that’s about it).
Also take in consideration that, since this a connection based game, people thrive on connection and do some crazy stuff. When it comes to LAN such players are usually garbage though.
Here’s are two loadout i play with when running automatics.
Primary: AR
Secondary: Magnum
Grenades: Frags
AA: Promethean Vision or Active Camo
Tactical Package: Mobility (you’ll need to be Sprinting most of the time to get to places quickly and if in a bad spot, to run away. This makes sure you don’t ever stop).
Support Upgrade: Ammo
OR…
Primary: LR (though you can use DMR/BR)
Secondary: Assault Rifle ( i use the Suppressor for the lulz)
Nades: Frags
AA: Promethean Vision (or Camo)
Tactical Package: Firepower (so you can use a longer ranged gun to make up for the ARs weakness at range)
Support Upgrade: Dexterity (You don’t need Ammo since you are running two Primary weapons now and the fast reload/swap times is always nice).

Well it does take 1.7~ seconds/16 bullets to kill a fully shielded spartan.
You just got make sure you shoot in controlled bursts, watch the bloom don’t let it get out of control, realize your range, don’t take people on from major distances, watch you ammo.

Nice montage.
I use almost the same loadout as that guy.
He seems to be pretty skilled with the AR.
It looked like a couple of the kills in the video had some team shots.
