Why doesn't MP have a map selection feature?

I like Halo 5 a lot but I really don’t know why matchmaking doesn’t have a map selection feature. Or at least why not map voting or a veto feature?

It seems common in other shooters like Battlefield and Battlefront. One reason I’m bringing this up is because I’d really like to play more of Skirmish at Darkstar but I mainly seem to get Array, Summit or Battle of Noctus. With Warzone games being as long as they are, I don’t like that I have to just hope that I find Skirmish or keep playing games until I find it to play it just once.

To me, it just seems odd that Halo 5 doesn’t have a map browser.

Anyone else agree? Any thoughts?

i dont see the point in warzone since there are only 5 maps. but would potentially be nice in arena

We really need a veto option in arena. No one wants to play Torque, Overgrowth and Riptide, it would be so much better if we could veto them out and get a better map to play on.

Lack of vetoing/mapvoting is one of my banes against the game. It’s leading to repetitive map selection and a more boring experience with the game. This feature has been long overdue.

People complained that the same maps were always being chosen in previous games, so 343 left it out of this one. I don’t have a problem with this, but sometimes it does feel like you are getting the same maps, over and over again.

Its funny how the reason for taking it out was cuz people complained they were getting the same maps over and over. Yet same things happening without a vote/veto system

This. 343i decided to get rid of voting because you would always play the same 2 or 3 maps. So, they decided to get rid of it.

Now, instead of playing the same 2 or 3 maps that everyone was ok with, you are now playing the same 2 or 3 maps everyone dashboards out of. Cough riptide and overgrowth cough cough

I hated voting/veto because brain dead players would just vote for the same maps/gametypes every game and you’d never seen any variety.

I don’t mind Overgrowth, but I LOVE Riptide! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d be down for a veto option but NEVER AGAIN a voting system! Either leave it how it is, or veto.

-Yoink-, this it too accurate…

Because nobody would play assault tyrant, if anyone played it at all, or torque anything, or slayer riptide, because the best way to play it is gain the two special areas then play like a total campy -Yoink- for the rest of the time. We cannot leave out overgrowth or, IMO, empire either. I’m sure you get the idea.

All voting and vetoing leads to is repeating the same maps over and over and over again.

And all forced map selection does is make people dashboard out when they see Riptide, Overgrowth, Torque, and Empire.
The veto is the best option, if the majority don’t want that map and game type, why force them to play it? I’d rather play Truth and Coliseum every single game then get either of those 4 maps I listed. It has nothing to do with variety, I don’t want to play a bad map for 10 min when I could be playing a better one.
It worked in Halo 3, it will work in Halo 5.

Do they not know how to modify algorithms? Seriously, a modified voting system could have been implemented which prevents you from voting for a map once it has been played until all the maps have been cycled through.
Example:
Players enter Warzone MM and get to vote on one of the 5 maps.
Stormbreak is selected and players complete the game.
Map voting prompt comes up asking for your vote. Stormbreak is not one of the options since it has been played already.
Players vote on the remaining four maps.
Escape from ARC is selected and players complete a game.
Map voting removes Stormbreak and Escape from ARC from the vote options.
**Players vote on the remaining three maps and the process repeats until all the maps have been played on.**The excuse that map voting leads to repetitive map selection is a lazy response to a genuine problem.

And quitters are why all I play in arena is FFA, BTB and some times the social playlist… gamers are so weak now a days can’t even just play the game… you aren’t going to like every map in multiplayer games. But sadly not many have the stones to play maps they don’t like.

I think the map rotation needs to be adjusted, as mentioned previously by some of you, some maps are constantly repeated, leaving behind others that I rarely play, nothing serious, I don´t know, maybe it´s just bad luck.

Well, with the fact that Halo 5 re-searches for players after every match, I’m not sure what good it would do in this game.

In the previous games, you stayed in the same lobby unless you left or it disconnected you.

I see why people want it and I’ve thought of it too. But I rather want variety and play maps I don’t like on rare occasions than the same maps and modes over and over.

Veto would be nice but I could see it being abused. Personally I don’t hate any map in the game at this point, just certain maps for certain game types (arena or swat).

Honestly I think it’s a cheeky play on their part so that all the maps are played, and we HAVE to play on them because if we quit we get insta-banned. I see no reason to not have it… and if we did we might get less games on Escape from ARC…pls yes
