Why does there need to be a DMR?

Why are both the DMR and BR returning in Halo 4? As far as I know, the DMR was a replacement for the BR because Reach was before Halo 2 and there wasn’t a BR until then…

If there is a BR in the game, I see no need for a DMR (plus it looks dumb in the leak)

Probably to be a crowd pleaser. I was a pro-DMR guy. For some reason I’ve never really liked burst fire.
