I do not get it either. I thought that the destruction of the Halo ring in Halo 3 was supposed to spread through the portal created by the Ark and destroy all the other Halos. Ending the threat of being destroyed by the Halo rings.

During the credits, before the Lone Wolf mission. It is there to connect Halo: Reach to Halo: CE. But its not part of the Halo: Reach story. So in a way it does not count, although it is in the game.

Remove the word Halo from " Halo 4" and your left with “____ 4”

They need to be in the game because they’re extremely large weapons of mass destruction which are unaccounted for. They need to be found and secured. Not to mention they probably have Flood spores still on board which need to continue being contained, or destroyed.
“Requiem 4”… That doesn’t sound right at all. Good joke though, you got me and everyone else! 
Because other wise this game would be called Shield World, Xbox Evolved.

Sorry for bumping, but I shall quote you.
The Halo ring was the replacement of Installation 04 after 04 got destroyed. Johnson went to the controls to light up the rings as it was planned by the Chief to destroy the installation. Johnson died by Guilty Spark. Then the same happened to guilty spark by the chief. Then cortana activated the firepower of the rings firepower to unleashed to destroy the ark a long with the installation.
The other rings are still out there because the portal which Chief, Cortana and Arbiter went through were shut between the Frigate leaving Arbiter to land into earths waters, and Chief and Cortana outer space facing Requiem.
Any Halo fans that know the story well, quote me if I’m wrong. 
ive never read any books but the titles halo, and i dont think since their are halos that means flood…
I’m quite surprised at the fact that not a lot of people understood the joke.
