There are 7 Halos. Installation 04 was destroyed and Installation 05 became Flood infested. If I had to guess it was glassed by the Covenant to stop their spread but that doesn’t mean it was rendered useless. The ring destroyed at the end of Halo 3 was simply a replacement ring after Installation 04 was destroyed.
So there are either 5 or 6 rings left over.

Requiem is a planet covered by a massive metal shell with a artificial star inside the shell above the planet designed to keep the flood out.

I do not get it either. I thought that the destruction of the Halo ring in Halo 3 was supposed to spread through the portal created by the Ark and destroy all the other Halos. Ending the threat of being destroyed by the Halo rings.

During the credits, before the Lone Wolf mission. It is there to connect Halo: Reach to Halo: CE. But its not part of the Halo: Reach story. So in a way it does not count, although it is in the game.

They need to be in the game because they’re extremely large weapons of mass destruction which are unaccounted for. They need to be found and secured. Not to mention they probably have Flood spores still on board which need to continue being contained, or destroyed.
