Why does the Thruster switch to 3rd person..?

Before they updated the thruster pack it was in first person but after seeing some of the newer gameplay it forces you into third person for the duration. Because it’s for such a short time the camera swapping perspectives seems totally unnecessary and annoying to say the least. I would like to know the reasoning behind the switch and why they thought it was necessary to change it?

Does this bother anyone else slightly?

Maybe so you know that you actually did use it and you are indeed over the chasm you are trying to cross?

I don’t like it. It might be a balance issue though, keep it from being too essential.

im annoyed to. at the SDCC build it was sooo sick. I can see myself getting irritated by the quickness of the zoom out zoom in. But I guess its more useful than not…

> I don’t like it. It might be a balance issue though, keep it from being too essential.

I don’t understand that though, it seems perfectly balanced from what I’ve seen. It is basically a watered down evade so how is that not balanced in the first place?

It’ll still be good for getting away quickly from a nade or whatever but it’s just going to be annoying to use because of the quick perspective switching.

Sounds like they made it more like holding a turret in halo 3? I haven’t even seen this yet.

makes it easier to use and control, you can see whats around you when you accelerate

That’s what I was thinking. I still like first person more though.

I really hope they change it back to 1st person before release. Everyone I’ve talked to agreed it looked much better in 1st.

Am I the only one who sees balance issues with this? 3rd person even for a few seconds can give an advantage when it comes to looking down hallways without peaking out…

Doesn’t make any sense and is beyond annoying.

Maybe there’s an option for 3rd or 1st…
Who knows?

I wish 343 would make an option for 1st person vehicle use.
Whether it’s driving, passenger, or gunner, 1st person would be cooler.

I see the different terrains making this kind of useless.

I would also like to be able to wield a turret in 1st person.

I would have preferred it to be like a watered down evade, still helps getting away from hazards a little though.

That is a very valid point. It would seem it would be more balanced in 1st person as well.

in my experience turrets are about 30 to 50 percent more accurate than guns

I suspect the 3d person view has something to do with it

It’s just 343s way of nerfing it. Player is less orientated after using the ability, rendering it less effective in firefights.
Seems like it is best as a defensive ability (running away), but could also be used for some unique traversal techniques. No doubt some jumps can only be made with the thruster/jetpack.

Yes, the Thruster Pack goes into third person after each use. Some find it annoying but personally, i am not bothered by it.

Seems more defensive oriented than Evade. Could be used to add to your strafe, maybe. Not sure if jumps are boosted by the T Pack as was with the Evade AA in Reach.

I’d prefer to FPV everything with the option to toggle vehicle TPV.
And that toggle is there for those that want to keep it. Being in TPV doesn’t stop me from sniping with a Scorpion thanks to 720p being beautifully nice in showing anything moving at such distances as cross-map Hemorrhage but some may like it to see incoming. I don’t need to see incoming in TPV, so that’s why I’d like everything to be in FPV.

And yes I do like the idea of pre-thrustering a corner to get a good view down a hall that may also fool a PV user into firing a miss.
I suspect the mechanic is to cut down on TP-melee’rs/CQB-instakill weapon users. I say boooo if my suspicions are true ;).

But honestly, my preference is to not have another TPV ability. HLS and TP are things I’d love to be FPV not TPV.
