Why does the sniper still have bloom?

I understand that it is just cosmetic but it is so ridiculous to have. GET RID OF IT. It distracts from the game and effects how i can aim follow up shots (in reach).

It’s not that bad,it allows you to know exacly when you will be able to shoot again.

Because 343 Industries copy and pasted Halo Reach into Halo 4.

Please avoid making comments like this. Everyone who has looked at Halo 4 knows otherwise.

OP - The sniper, DMR, and Magnum having bloom is a smart move on 343’s part.

Because Halo4 is Halo Reach on crack with a little cod thats why lol

right, they copied halo reach and then copied call of duty.
but seriously, its obvious these concepts came from halo reach and call of duty. its not like call of duty because it has a distinct spin on it, but there is no where else they could have come from.

Agreed. It’s a pointless distraction.

He is right to an extent, Halo 4 is being made from a heavily modified Reach engine, it wouldn’t surprise me if the bloom on the Sniper was only temporary, after all, it is only visual.

You… you are kidding, right? CoD invented -none- of that stuff. It’s like most shooters around- none of its ideas are original within the series. There’s a myriad of games that features prevalent in CoD (and ideas that may make their way into Halo 4), which come from entirely different series that precede CoD by a good several years.

How about every other modern shooter?

And OP, it doesn’t have any effect unless your sniper is fully automatic.

it doesnt matter, 343 wouldnt have copied any other game because they werent as successful as halo. Typically, copying a game that does worse than you would make your game do worse.

Or it could just be called, I dunno, innovation? Halo 3 had equipment, the predecessor of AAs, before CoD became the next shooter to take the throne. The equipment was already in that stage of evolution- and quite frankly? Games from the same genre only exist because they “copy” off eachother. It’s naive to think otherwise. These new “changes” have very little to do with CoD so much as the general direction FPS games have been moving, I assure you.

Freakin cod troll fest this has become.
You guys can’t even have a civilized discussion about visual mechanics without pulling that card? What has happened to this place? And people wonder why the waypoint forums are looked down on elsewhere…

Oh so thats why cod copies halo the most. Because they know halo is a better series.

On a serious note, the additions being added are being tweaked to give halo 4 a fresh yet classic feel. so of course they copied halo reach into it, it’s 4’s most recent predecesor. But I also see halo 3 in the mix for movement and a wider weapon sandbox.

equipment and AAs are very, very different things. both have dramatically different roles in gameplay.

Innovation is creating something new and unique, never before seen in video games. Loadouts are not innovative.

If you think games are supposed to copy off of each other, thats just sad.

Ever wonder why call of duty 4 did so well (and it was a great game)? its because it did new and unique things. It went downhill after that, but the key to a successful game is not copying game mechanics, its making your own.

nice one.

But despite popular belief cod 4 was in no shape original. Maybe to console gamers but you want to know of another modern era game that had loadouts back around the time cod1 came out?

Counter-Strike

Counter Strike and COD play at very different paces.

Oh yea, and COD introduced dozens of features not in CS. Really was a more streamlined system.

And that was a nice one too.

Same with Battlefield, which also had ironsights.

And I’m sure rewarding good play with free kills (ie, killstreakes) were in plenty of other games before.
