jep. sucks
I don’t think it does suck. It works very effectively to rank players.
this thread breaks it down in minute detail
The purpose of the Halo 5 ranking system is to sort players between different skill levels and use it in order to generate matches that are expected to be as fair as possible. If the ranking system if working, this in turn will mean that the player should converge to a specific rank where the the player will phase other players with the same expected outcome from the match. As long as this is done relatively efficiently, the ranking system can be considered as working.
It’s not a progression system so if you’re beating people below your skill level or playing as expected then you won’t gain CSR.

Yeah, I don’t want to play those games. It’s a waste of time.

It’s literally the worst decision I think theyve ever done and thats from a Champ.

Can we unbreak it please.

but if they match you into those games anyway, I feel like you should get the XP. if I play a game with all diamonds but then the opponent has 1 platinum I get no XP, but if it is reverse I still lose the XP. clearly there are not enough players anymore to make matches even so they should adjust the system.

The system should theoretically find some for of equilibrium (self adjusting). If that wasn’t true, every player would just tend towards the lowest possible skill based ranking which definitely isn’t the case.
It works fine, if you’re only getting 1 a win, and dropping alot per loss, you simply need to get better to climb. Simple as that my mans.
Quick question. I get that KPM is a key stat for rank, does anyone know what else is? DPM?

I don’t know exactly how the ranking system is structured but my advice is to either perform a lot of testing to track down the variables or attempt to find reports which describes the model used in the ranking system. A good start can be to read [1].

It’s just KPM and DPM. As I understand it, DPM is weighted at a much lower rate. I think it was written somewhere that if KPM>DPM that’s all that really matters in terms of deaths, and then it’s your KPM that influences MMR.
Honestly I think all Ranking scores on any game is broken, theirs to many factors that are involved with the online ranking system. But its just my opinion.

It’s noteworthy that it’s probably impossible to design a ranking system which perfectly measures the skill of a set of players.

That is true, for sure, but at least they have a ranking system.
I don’t really play competitive no more, just screwing around with my friends, so this might be outdated, but I noticed the more games you play, the less and less EXP you get

Are you talking about Spartan Rank or your skill rating?
With ranked games, it’s trying to rate your skill accurately so you’re not going to gain rank if you don’t improve (there’s no XP) because it’s not a progression system. When you begin a ranked season, after placements you start 100 CSR behind your actual rank so the first few wins you’ll get large gains.

Thanks for clarifying, I was talking about CSR
