So I must say that I enjoyed the game at first. I enjoyed the grind of challenges, and the event, however I did not enjoy the 50xp per game; so no matter how hard you try you only get 50xp… so that afk guy who sat around standing there or t-bagging in a corner all game got the same xp as you did… That in and of itself does not make sense.
This is all beside the point, why did someone think it would be an excellent idea to have no timer on the ball in oddball? In many of the matchups I have played recently, (solo queuing) I have found it incredibly difficult to get the ball back after the opposing team takes it to some hard to reach spot, for instance a tower. Why doesn’t it reset after 30 seconds?
Do you mean a set period of time where it returns to the middle even if the enemy team have possession? If so that would defeat the purpose of the game.
If you mean does it reset after dropped, it does i’m pretty sure. Plus it’ll reset if it falls off the edge of the map.
Are you asking why it doesn’t reset when someone is holding it? That’s because they’re holding it. That’s the point, to hold it the whole match. It resets when not held for 30 seconds or goes out of bounds (usually). There are 3 rounds, so technically, it does reset. Otherwise it would be one long single round.
Didn’t it used to reset after a certain amount of time no matter what? Say 30seconds to a minute and then spawn in a different location? It allowed for more competition, among different teams
It is possible you might be confused with the Oddball Variant from Halo Reach “Hot Potato”. If I remember correctly, the ball actually explodes after a set amount of time after holding it, but this was part of an Action Sack playlist, since it was an unusual and creative game type meant for having fun only.
In normal Oddball, the entire point of the game is to hang onto the ball as long as possible. There is no reason to have the ball randomly explode in a normal / competitive game of Oddball since it doesn’t reward skill.
