Why do you guys think the Infinity makes the trek to requiem in the first place? Could it be a response from the beacon Cortana set after Halo 3? What do you guys think?
EDIT: Never mind, I kinda answered my own question.

Probably to get their jollies. We will have to see in Halo 4.
“Mayday Mayday, Forward Unto Dawn, Immediate evac, 117” “Play it again please.”
That explains it all, the Infinity is to find & explore new planets, they heard the beacon and moved towards the Infinity as shown in the live action video at E3.

I was going to say it’s because they can fly, so they flew wherever they wanted and got grounded for being in a no fly zone, and now crash landed as their punishment…
but The Little Moa’s comment works too…

I love you

That’s unneeded

Uncalled for.
Basically what you just said, OP. They picked up the beacon signal and went to take a peek.
Woah wait, I thought that mayday thing was in the Forward unto Dawn webseries. I thought I had heard it there… I always thought that the Infinity was going to look for more planets and headed toward Requiem because it didn’t look organic and they wanted to see why…

The “forward unto dawn” Live action series follows the story of the young captian of the UNSC Infinity. It begins with his training, and him being saved by the chief. Later in his career, he takes control of the UNSC Infinity, which is also in the series. The ending of the FuD trailer shows them on the infinity, picking up cortana’s distress signal from the back half of the UNSC FuD, which was lost 4 years prior.
The captain sets course for this signal(while searching for more colonies and training spartan IV’s), and that’s where halo 4 supposedly begins. The series was made specifically to tie in with halo $, helping to close the gap between halo 3 and halo 4.

Oh I see now thanks for clearing that up. I probably should have re-watched the video to see I just remembered it differently haha.
SPOILER!!!
For people who have read Primordion,
Isn’t it possible that the ship that 343 Guilty spark high jacks is infinity …?
Probably to explore and locate, find, and extract Master Chief and Cortana.
