In the flight, I found it really annoying that pretty much all of your weapon information, grenades, and equipment all sat crammed in the bottom right corner. the HUD down there felt crammed and cluttered, fighting for space, I mean, a menu opens up for you to swap grenades? why? It only makes the information harder to read when everything is down there.

I completely agree. Having all the information in one area was messy. At times, I didn’t know what nade I had on backup. Also didn’t realize I picked up equipment when killing an enemy. I would attempt to pick up overshield and had equipment already unknowingly. This info should be spaced out and a little larger on the hud. Picking up equipment should make a louder sound also IMO
It does feel really cluttered. I hope we can customise the HUD.
Agreed. I hope it’s changed before launch.
I definitely agree the noise for grenades and pickups should be louder. Picking up a spike, plasma, and unsc grenade make quiet different sounds but barely able to notice because not loud enough.
They did it in the name of minimalist, but form should always follow function and not the other way around.
I concur.
The hud seems to have way less info at a glance.
Before you had nades easy to see in its own space.
Weapons with visual indication of rounds next to numerical.
Equipment.
Motion tracker.
All of this was segmented in such a way as to allow players to check a specific element at any moment with a glance.
Th hud in the flight is by far an inferior set up to prior titles I hope we can at least customise it because I’m not a fan.
How much information do you guys need on your hud though? Ammo, grenades, and radar are the only things that should be on there. What other halo had anything more than that?
I’d rather stuff is all together and not all over the screen
Having HUD icons in the bottom left and right corners seems to be in line with other modern shooters, however I found myself in the Flight constantly looking to the top left and right corners for grenade and ammo information.
Like others I hope there is a setting to have the HUD returned to its classic form, however I am doubtful this will happen. Still with Halo Infinite being pitched as the most accessible Halo game to date I would hope any feedback including this was implemented in some form.

that would be amazing, I really hope that 343 let us get more customization in several aspects of the game like the HUD.
You mean the HUD on the test flight of a build that is a few months old? Or are you already playing the game?
I’m old so for quite a few years there’s herb too much in the hud for my taste. Weapons, ammo, grenades, health, shields, friends and foe icons, and radar. That’s more than enough for me. Shields and health at top. Radar one bottom corner. Weapons, ammo, and grenades in another.
Yeah. I think for seeing your radar, and shields are fine. It’s when you get to the clutter bottom right. the weapons are fine. I can see which one I’m swapping to. But not knowing what other grenade I have, without swapping to select it is a bit of a pain. Especially since we’re getting 3 or (possibly more) grenade types.
There have been a few videos on this from Halo YouTubers, I’d be very surprised if they ignore the feedback.
I like the Infinite HUD, shield at top, radar at bottom left, ammo and equipment in bottom right. A triangle, simple and clean. It reminds me a lot of ODST HUD.
Both right and left top of the HUD is empty, It may be reserve for other HUD icons or HUD elements. That we haven’t seen yet. Also, we can change the HUD display margin, it can be really cramped. The grenades are fine, don’t need to have all grenades on screen, it takes up space. I do think we can have more than two grenades types, and we can have more than one equipment equip. And having all that information over the screen feels too much for me and clutter. My idea would change the equipment icon near the radar on the left side. I do still miss the ammo counter for the HUD. And hope it returns. And maybe even give the player customize HUD option.
If we think, every part of the HUD in each game mode. It will take a lot of space in screen, example firefight, campaign score, challenge, forge, etc.
Maybe the upper left corner is reserve for firefight rounds and waves like ODST. And in campaign, we have seen that mission objective is reserve for top left corner. Right corner is maybe campaign and firefight score with time, score multiplier and challenge?
In my opinion, 343 did a great job on this HUD, they have changed the style a bit, since E3 gameplay, and I think they will improve the HUD more and take feedback.
I do think is Jeff Christy work on Halo Infinite UI and HUD, and he’s my favorite designer in ArtStation. And David Candland, UI and HUD in Halo 3 ODST.
Sorry for my English.

Customizing the HUD would be cool!
I will agree as well. At the very least, I would like my grenades to be in the top left so I can more easily see which ones I have equipped, and how many in total I am carrying. As it stands currently, the bottom right of the screen is just far too busy.

And the same HUD from the July 2020 demo and the screenshots from AskInfinite throughout the past year. Because if it hasn’t changed by now, exactly what indication do we have that it will change by launch unless people express their discontent with it?

That’s one of my main wishes
