Why does the double xp boost timer tick down when I'm in a lobby not playing?

Problem is if they do that people could suicide over and over to increase the 50 xp since theres no real participation needed, this whole system is completely stupid

I used my boost today and its diwn to 42 min and i havent even been able to get into a single match. Dont act like it ended there ater all im so bored while it keeps trying to find ine im typing this while still trying. Who knows what ill even have left ehen a match does load. Ironically i NEVER have a problem when boost isn’t actuve almost like this is done on purpose by 343. Oh hey look 32 minutes in and the first game loads. At this point i’d settle for a 40 minute double xp boost with no connection issues smh. This is why i prefered bungie.

y tick, when me no play? :orangutan:

Like 98% money, and 2% easier to implement.

But easier to implement is also coming down to money, because they need to invest less resources, which to me seems to be a common theme.

Like an earlier poster said, I would recommend not using any of them now while the game is still cooking in the oven. I “think” this game will be better over time and actually be more fun with more game modes and then I will use my double xp boosts…

Perfectly describes why the servers are so bad

Pretty sure XP boosters in Halo 5 worked per completed match, so an Infinite booster is not even bad, since it lasts about 2 BTB matches or a maximum of 4 fast 4v4 matches with good teamwork. If it only ticked while in game, you’d still see roughly the same amount of matches, based entirely on how long the matches get dragged out. You could maybe squeeze 5 4v4 matches into an hour, and maybe 3 BTB matches if your team absolutely stomps the other team, but that’s extremely unlikely to happen without most of the team being in party chat

Yeah, that would be optimal.

Then it’s a good thing that 343i extended that 30-minute 2XP timer to 60 minutes, so even with that 25% going to down time you have 45 minutes of in game time. I’ve also noticed that even if I start a match with less than a minute remaining on the timer, I’ll still be rewarded with 2XP at the end of the match.

Well making money certainly is the objective of most companies. I don’t think that is much of a stretch.

Let them buy them they are subsidizing the cost of the base game for us

I’ve racked up a fair few XP boosts, but I’m definitely not going to buy more when they run out.

Battlefield 4 paused it and I’m pretty sure Titanfall did as well but not entirely sure on the latter.

I’ve so far had 2 boosters that DID get completely wasted. As in I sat there on my phone for an hour waiting, resetting the search maybe once every 10 minutes, occasionally looking up to be reminded that the estimated wait time was between 1 and 3 minutes max. So hyperbole isn’t really gonna cover that lmao. It’s definitely still a big problem that they’ve never once even tried to address besides a “we’ll see”.

It may be an issue now, but 8 months ago in December when my original comment was written it was not.
