This is the stupidest thing ever. Why the hell would you give an inaccurate spray gun the ability to head shot for extra damage? So basically whether or not i die to someone with AR comes down to RNG? Oh look i got lucky and randomly headshot you with the AR guess you die instantly. Good design.
No one wants randomness in a competitive FPS game take that trash out thanks.
If there truly is headshot damage with the AR, then yes it needs to be removed. This leads to inconsistency in terms of damage because of how rapid and random the bullets of an AR spray out. Headshots would be by chance on AR’s, not skill.

No, it relies on skill. Maintaining crosshair in a good size over the enemy.so head. The assault rifle isn’t a random spray and pray weapon. You’d likely get killed by someone who uses it better if you use it like that.

Ya cause people really take their time to aim with the AR.
People just spray with the AR, its bullets on full auto go all over the place, if you get a headshot its because of RNG not because you tried to do it. This is stupid and bad game design.

It can headshot and this is exactly my point, its random not a skill based weapon.

No, skilled people would aim properly and get rewarded with faster kill time if they properly do it, as opposed to lesser skilled which just spray. More calm, more control, more skill. It might be random if you spray it, but that’s not something you can rely on. Skill and understanding of the weapon is rewarded by faster kill times. Simple.
oddly enough it’s a 2 sided coin, if the spread of the AR is too great to maintain consistency then there should be no headshot bonus, if the AR is precise enough it most certainly should have it.
personally if the time to kill was longer on the AR, but the spread was reduced slightly and headshot bonus remains then that would create better balance and a higher skill cap,

You’re so laughably clueless it hurts.
Guess what? NO ONE burst fires the AR. Burst firing the AR is the only way to achieve any consistency or accuracy.
It is a spray gun, not a precision weapon, therefore any headshots you get are as a result of randomness as you CANNOT control with any degree of precision where your bullets go in full auto.
Are we sure it’s there? I heard some others talking about it yesterday and I just finished a few games in an attempt to see if they actually put in a multiplier. I think I may have noticed it but I don’t have a real way of knowing for sure. Do we have confirmation for this anywhere? The AR is definitely stronger than before and I’ve been aiming for the head with good results but I’m not too sure if it’s helping.
But is this is indeed true… well…
THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER WITHIN THE ESSENCE OF TIME AND SPACE. This, this is the thing that I wanted in this game. You’ve got those guys that want Elites back, those guys that want sprint gone, those guys that want Blue team in the campaign. But this, this is mine, this is the thing that I have happily brought up on every possible occasion around here and I know full well that I’ve annoyed at least one person about it. If this is true this could be one of the happiest days that I’ll ever experience as a Halo fan. It’s gonna be right up there with that Shotgun perfection I got in Reach.
Please tell me it’s true! Please! Don’t crush my dreams.

You’re calling me clueless? I burst fire. Just because you don’t, doesn’t mean everyone doesn’t. You use it as a spray and pray everytime? Then pay the consequences of doing so. Someone uses it more precisely and skillfully? Then let them reap the rewards. Simple. The assault rifle in halo 5 is a powerful tool. Learn to make then most of it, or die a lot more.

I can vouch here. You’d be crazy not to burst fire.
If what’s being said about there being a head shot multiplier is true than this is going to take Halo’s sand box to where it needs to be. Finally the primary rifle trio will have the potential to fight on balanced terms. The BR wont have the potential of outclassing the AR in CQC which is how it should have been all along.
Balances should be made, I can agree when others say that the kill times feel a tad short but that multiplier is here and I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure that it remains there until this franchise breaths it’s last breath.

Few people use burst fire, yes, but have you ever asked yourself why? It’s because there’s no reward for being accurate with assault rifles. A headshot multiplier gives you reason to burst fire.

Burst fire with the AR kicked -Yoink- in H4. Sadly it didn’t get much publicity, if any. Personally, I think a multiplier is a good thing, so long as it can’t happen when the AR isn’t being fired whilst out of SS. That way, you get no RNG kills from hip fire, and precision is rewarded.

ARs have spread. Spread is defined as when bullets randomly deviate from the point of aim, ie; center of the reticule. Therefore, ARs have a random element. That given, the headshot multiplier should be removed, or the ARs be tuned into a precision automatic. Regarding the latter suggestion, precision automatics are actually fairly skillful and difficult to use (think the Reach Focus Rifle or H2A Sentinel Beam), as a missed shot is a missed shot. When the weapon has spread similar to the AR, it has a cone of fire to make it easier to use in close quarter combat situations as a near miss with the reticule will still connect if part of the cone of fire is still on the player hitbox.
if this is true, this is very alarming. Beta or not, the fact this even made it into the game makes me wonder about the choices 343 will make for this game.
