Why does Spartan Ops...

…lag so much? I get little to no lag in multiplayer matchmaking (unless I am playing split screen with guests) but in Spartan Ops I literally can’t find one game that doesn’t lag.

It has a crappy network code. I have no idea what they were thinking about. It plays like late 90s - early 00s MP game.

They should lift the *Gold Membership Required for every profile playing Spartan Ops until they can fix the awful lag. We’re paying for this, you know.

I know we are. I just find it weird that multiplayer is fine but Spartan Ops has horrible lag.

I think it’s normal for any Halo game to play ANYTHING where you fight A.I. characters like the Covenant over Live to lag unless everyone has a great connection but some people either can’t afford it, or just don’t care.

I was wondering this for some time, as me and a friend who lives down the road from me always play spartan ops/campaign together. and always have terrible lag with the exception of tonight (finishing off the epic episode 6) we actually had a good connection and could enjoy final chapters alot more.

But I ran into this article yesterday, which explains why spartan ops lags so much. It makes for an interesting read -Halo 4 Spartan Ops & CO-OP Lag Explained-

But it also begs the question why didnt they add dedicated servers?

You know I have no problem with the lag. It only gets bad when someone in my game as a bad connection or someone in my house is streaming videos on the internet. Btw if you haven’t played previous halo games they all had the same problem in either campaign or firefight. I believe this is the case because they use the network from campaign on either firefight or spartan ops instead of the multiplier network. This is probably because the game would crash if they attempted to use the multiplayer network instead of what the AI’s were originally intended to be on, which is the campaign network. Its not their fault if you don’t receive a proper connection at the time. The lag will probably always remain until you or your teammate’s connection resolves itself.
