Why does passive aggressive = camping?

So more specifically I have a very passive aggressive playstyle. I don’t really sprint around much, I’m usually just at the usual walking speed and when I get to a high traffic area I will usually wait a few seconds. Then move on if no one gets there. And if I need to recharge my shields I clearly stay put.
Lately all I get are people telling me I’m camping becausee of that, or I get a kill and wait from my shield to recharge and once I start moving away I get into another gunfight, and rinse and repeat.
Am I out of the loop and that is camping? Or are people just being try hards?
Oh and this is both if I’m winning, lossing, or even destroying. So I can’t find a comonality.

Sounds more like frustration from other people, now if you just stayed in the same spot with the shotgun then that would be camping

That’s exactly what I though. Thanks, I’m not crazy then

Yeah you’re not crazy, you aren’t sitting in a small area with a power weapon

Moving around and holding areas for a bit at a time is not camping.

It’s not a bad strategy but it’s not always good either… There are a lot of people that just sit in corners while their team is clearly engaging enemy players, and while they could assist in the fight, they don’t. This could even result in THEM being taken out in the end because they are seemingly unaware of the fight happening in close proximity…

It’s also good to learn when making an aggressive push is beneficial. These maps have a lot of great flank routes where if you’re in a given area and know your team is engaging multiple enemies from a certain location, you can swing in the back door, so to speak, and play clean-up crew… That’s when big multi-kills happen!

If you can develop this into your game you can post some pretty great stats. Plus it’s great to pressure power positions and weapon pads. Either you get control of a power item or the enemy does, and you don’t want that…

Agreed I would certainly not call it camping. I play in a similar fashion (as frankly I’m not that good!) and try to stay alive. While I’m not a score-hunter I do find it personally rewarding when I get survival bonuses after a round. I try, as you do, to find a spot (not camping) from where I can put fire down while not rushing in & dying like so many I see, and near to cover enough to recharge the shields when needed. Of course the “spot” changes from moment to moment given the circumstances of the fight.
I believe that in order to contribute to a team effort I have to stay alive and give as much fire on the enemy as I can. That’s it.

I like your style, and I’m convinced that if a team of players fought that way, the enemy would find itself surrounded and not knowing which way to fire back.

I had a guy message me to quit camping during a warzone match on apex the other day. I was standing on the big rock at the spire (beginning of the game) shooting blue team as they came up the ramp. Because standing on a rock in the middle of a map is camping I guess. To me if people want to run clockwise around a map shooting at stuff they should go play COD. Using a little strategy does not equal camping.

Like it.
If that were camping, then having a guard/sentry post in a scenario would be camping also? I’m often found in those REQ stations either side of the Spire in Apex (WZFF), putting fire down on the enemy in support of those running into the action and dying. Am I wrong? Is that camping, trying to destroy the enemy (whether they be ghosts, banshees, ground troops etc) from what appears to be a location built for it?

I think some whine for the sake of it. I’ve seen camping - Some Spartan with a power weapon hiding still in a tight corner waiting for opposition to pass by. They don’t tend to last long as when next spawn occurs they receive a couple of frag presents.

(actually, now I mention it, surely I’ve “camped” protecting our Flag from being taken while teammates steal the opposition Flag?) lol

Your not camping at all OP and honestly even if you were, who cares. I’ve never in all my years had a problem with camping. To me camping is a strategy. It might not be the most fun to play against, but it’s also not hard to counter. Either is the neutral zone trap in hockey but if it wins games, it wins games.

I’ve always seen camping as if the enemy is dumb enough to say… keep coming threw that door. Knowing I have say a shotgun… then I’m going to stay there with that shotgun and keep killing you! LoL

If you know someone is there, don’t go, throw grenades, or just leave them be. Do something else to try and kill them if you absolutely must, otherwise leave them. Most of the time that player gets bored and comes out and then you strike!! Halo is about patience and knowing when to attack. Which is very different from say games like COD and is one of MANY reasons why I’ve always liked Halo better

So no OP, your fine. Just do your thing and don’t worry about other people.

You’re not crazy at all, you’re strategic

Besides, it’s not camping; it’s map control.

I tend to run around the map a lot, but I crouch and get low whenever I approach a place with enemies, or to hide from someone who is chasing me from behind.

It’s just how I roll - gotta keep my foes guessing.

Nahhhh it’s strategy.

Mt playstyle is more frantic and running around on H5 oppose to slower moments in older Halo games.

I do best when I know people are locking down key areas because it takes the attention off me and allows me to rack up kills.

Lol I bet you only ever hear that complaint with losers… People are just bitter and cannot control anger. I’ve yet to have a day when I scream down the mic when my team loses. I might scream at my TV but not to other players, for some reason people expect everyone to be trying as hard as them. I sometimes become a try hard, but don’t cry when I lose. Play for fun, if you enjoy it -Yoink- what these losers are saying.

Just frustrated players that like to yell campers or latency bs when they lose a gunfight. Ignore and repeat.

some people are dumb and when they get killed they imidiatly call camping

Those guys are just salty that you REQ’d them.

Camping doesn’t even work as a viable solution any more you have to move more if you ever want to camp but then it’s no longer camping.

They are annoyed you can actually play the game, without resorting to cheap tactics or just shear incompetence.

Exactly.
