Why does nobody want to see large scale battles in Halo?

These videos from halo wars are great and it would be awesome to play a halo game that is this intense. Could be a spin off in order not ruin the main series for you hardcore fans.

Maybe next gen with more powerful hardware in order to have a true large scale of 64 players, preferably 128

I hope Halo 4 has large scale battles. It gets boring doing this all the time.
Point A: Go to point B. You fight a small enemy squad on the way.
Point B: Go to point C. You fight a small enemy squad on the way.
Point C: Go to point D. You fight a small enemy squad on the way.
Point D: Go to point E. You fight a small enemy squad on the way.

I also hope they increase the max player count from 16 people up to 50 people. 32 players would work fine.

I’d like to see some bigger battles.

Nobody everybody?

Who?

In Halo 4, assuming we have increased player cap, there should be the usual 16 player BTB on large scale maps, and there should be a new playlist with the max amount of players (24? 32? Who knows) with epic sized maps, similar to Battlefield.

I’d love to be on the ground with a small squad of Spartans, making tactics on how to take out a Scorpion, when a Longsword sweeps through the air and destroys it. Feelsgoodman.jpg

One of the complaints I saw a lot about Reach’s campaign was that even though you’re supposed to be fighting an all-out war for the fate of Reach, the player is still relegated to smaller-scale combat zones. Especially Tip of the Spear, where you see that convoy of warthogs taking on the line of banshees, you end up getting shunted off with Kat into a series of smaller engagements.

“The largest Covenant fleet ever witnessed looms in the darkened skies over Reach.”
What happened to this massive invasion force?

Only if we get dedicated servers and it doesn’t eat up necessary production time, otherwise the lag will be insane and something that needed a little bit more time to be perfect could be shipped as is.

Reach has HUGE maps…but all of them are used for Skyboxes -_-

go make a mod or game by your self and you’ll see why!

For true large-scale battles (multiplayer), dedicated servers are a must. And considering Halo is Microsoft’s baby, they should have done dedicated servers a long time ago. Take a look at M.A.G. and the 256-player gametype. M.A.G. succeeded in capturing the large-scale war feel.

Large-scale battles in single player are up to the developer, really. That, and since there’s limitations on the current-gen consoles, there’s only so big of battles they can do.

good example is BF3 for the pc and Xbox

It would be awesome to have large scale battles, however you have to think how many problems that would ensue:

  1. You’d have to have dedicated servers, for lag would be so bad the game would be unplayable
  2. You’d need a quick drop-in-drop-out player system, for quitters and bootees would also be rampant, so you’d need to replace those players immediately to maintain even teams
  3. You’d have to have absurdly large maps to accommodate the massive amounts of players, which goes along with
  4. You’d have to have an insane amount of vehicles and weapons on the map for each team

It would be very difficult to perfect, however it would be pretty sweet if implemented correctly. I imagine a 50 vs. 50 match, however the game would probably be broken down into several small squads of 5-10 that face each other, instead of directly 50 people vs. 50 people.

Well, I don’t see dedicated servers being a problem. It’s Microsoft’s most beloved franchise and I would much rather see my xbl fee being put towards that then useless facebook/twitter integration and tv deals…

yep you would have to have huge maps…Heck, I want to see maps having space between land, air, space lol. would be amazing.

and no, I don’t want it setup like mag where there are a lot of players, but you only see a couple of them. I prefer the battlefield squad system and still seeing every single player on the map. Can you imagine seeing like 15 vehicles on each side driving towards each other for all out battle. would be awesome lol.

Reach does have huge maps, but I’m talking grand scale maps, a la Battlefield. Operation Metro from the Battlefield 3 beta was probably the size of 2 and a half Forge Worlds put together, and then some because it was all walkable terrain. I’d like to see something like this in Halo, with at least 24 players and a couple vehicles thrown in; The large scale battles that OP is talking about.

Honestly, if at the end of Halo 6, we see the UNSC and perhaps Elites, if Glasslands doesn’t shatter any potential alliance, join together and fight the Timeless One and his Flood forces like we saw in Origins II, I’d cry with joy.

This would be sweet except I don’t expect to see this in Halo 4, Maybe Halo 5 or 6

I’d be fine with dedicated servers for a game like Halo. But I don’t like the fact that the multiplayer could just be shut off.

Damn you EA!

I would love to see large scale battle in Halo. I’d like to see this. Epic.
