Why does nobody ever talk in VC?

If you don’t have reliable friends still playing Infinite, you can search for a squad either on forums like this or in the LFG tab on your Xbox. It just requires more menus to press through and more waiting and still, all of that does not guarantee that you are going to get a squad that fully communicates or if they will even play well with your personal playstyle. It will just give you slightly better odds than only relying on this crap matchmaker to do it’s job.

Ever since 343 took over the franchise, online chat and communication in Halo has become very restricted. This has subconsciously trained a vast majority of Halo players (especially the newer fans) not to rely on chat or even care about it in Social. Even in Ranked, some Halo players still go in mic-less and squad-less and wonder why things aren’t fair for them lol

Instead of the Devs just telling players to grow up and use the mute or block features on abusive players, features that have been available since the beginning of Online gaming. The developers decided to restrict chat as much as possible. It seems the devs have simply gotten tired of all the Karens sending in emails, death threats and random phone calls, crying about them or their beloved child being verbally abused or threatened on an online video game instead of just doing the responsible thing and quitting out of that specific match or muting/blocking the culprits, thus avoiding the issue in less then 2 minutes with no need to contact anyone

Unfortunately most people can’t hear you if they have VC off which is the default setting.

Really it needs to be on by default in Ranked at the very least. Obviously having VC on by default would have been much more acceptable if they had nice easy functionality to mute annoying players from launch.

That sounds seriously annoying. Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news for you but playing in ranked there should at least be a few people listening on chat even if they won’t talk to you. If not then I guess it’s good practice for when there are people on VC.

Might just use it to get in a habit of calling out enemies and not getting distracted. I just have to remember to re-turn on VC to all whenever I launch the game :skull:

You can still hear people with it off.

It took me way too long to realize that nobody else could hear me though.

I don’t know what to tell you but you definitely can’t hear other people when VC is disabled.

Not sure what settings you have but if you can hear other random people on chat then it’s not disabled.

I’ll take your word for it, but I could hear people talking before I changed any of the default settings to enable it.

It was either some kind of bug or it was only people on your party chat.

Or possibly it work’s differently on PC vs Xbox (I’m on Xbox).

I’m on xbox too, and wasn’t partied (most of my friends bailed on Infinite pretty quickly - they weren’t going to stick around long anyway).

We can both agree it was probably a bug. I’ll look at the settings next time I log in - maybe I had done something weird.

That is a very big FACT and I agree 100%

I don’t hear squat. Here is my audio VC settings so I don’t have to listen to all of the BS so I can concentrate on the game with my friends on Teamspeak!

Subtitles - OFF!
Voice Chat Mode - Disabled
Fireteam and lobby chat - Unchecked
Match Chat - Unchecked
Incomming Voice Chat - set at “0”
Sparten Chat - Set at “0”

Works for me!

I was calling out without VC enabled for an embarassing amount of games before I realized this :rofl:
