So whenever I join a game, I feel like nobody ever talks in voice chat. I know it’s on because I have heard people before, but is there any way I could get on teams that actually talk? I feel like halo multiplayer is so much better when your team is communicating and talking to each other, and I want to be able to experience that.

There is like a 100 of those varying through the months, his thread shouldn’t be an issue.
I don’t talk because I feel no reason for me to say anything, its all casual games and nobody needs to listen to each other
Either that, or I’m in my own party
Unlike MCC, Bungie era Halo, and 2000 era Xbox Live in general, nobody wants to talk in Halo Infinite, because there is no pre/post game lobby, so you won’t match with the same people next match. No reason to chat, no reason to argue, you can’t even taunt the enemy team, and even worse, in Halo Infinite… you can only talk to your 4 man fireteam in BTB, not your whole 12 person team.
BTB is where you want the most teamwork, but it’s where you’ll find the least teamwork. Sure, you could argue people should want to work together in Ranked, but they don’t. Almost all Ranked players are selfish players, only wanting to get the most kills that match, never working together or doing the objectives.
If you want to mic up with people, start adding other players that want to as well. Post in Xbox LFG with “Mic required”
Sorry if I sound stupid, but what is Xbox LFG?
It’s easier if you just google it, but LFG is Looking For Game. On Xbox (center X button menu) and Windows Game Bar, you should see a tab for Parties where people are posting notes looking for people to play the same game with them, with details about what they’re playing, how many players are needed, and various tags.
People use it in many Xbox games when they want to join or invite people to an Xbox Live Party. When you have a game playing in the background, the LFG is automatically categorized for posts about that game.
Most people used it a lot for Custom Games in MCC before we had a Custom Games Browser
I fir example have VC permanently disabled except for party, since I cannot mute individual players from the scoreboard by just tapping their name like I do in other games, which forces you to constantly listen to some -Yoink!- and his radio/tv/music/the game/mom or kids yelling in the background.
You have to go through all the menus to find a player and mute him, nobody has time for that during in-game, all it takes is a simple button tap, one of the things that’s beyond 343 abilities I guess.
And I can only guess I’m not the only who permanently disabled his VC because of that, like I said, in other games whenever someone’s mic is too sensitive and constantly on with all the background noises, you just tap his name and his out, it’s doesn’t even take half a second, that’s how simple and intuitive it is, and should be in Halo as well.
haha can you mute someone in this game? I didn’t know and turned off VC completely
I got told “stop coaching you’re mid” after literally just calling out locations today. So maybe it’s stuff like that keeping people from VC-ing.
Because 9 times out of 10 the chat is filled with ridiculous verbal abuse. After dealing with that crap since 2004, it got old.
Also trying to communicate with pugs never works as intended, you’ll receive abuse for trying to play well or you’ll receive it for making a mistakes or whatever reason they can think of. It’s better to just user VC with people you actually know too.
Before they made mics ‘off’ by default, so many people were just rambling, ranting and throwing abuse out in the game, not even realising that mics were on by default.
I agree 100% but that is why my friends and I use Teamspeak. Why? cuz we don’t want to hear the BS like racial remarks, talking about somebody mom ECT. ECT.
And Its free to use. We host our own teamspeak server for free!
You can host your own Teamspeak server for FREE! or you can pay $3.00 a month on gameservers.com for 10 users. It works for us.
Because it’s 2023, people are soft and get offended very easily and will try to find any hole they can and stick it in. I remember some guy on my team was talking to someone with him (not in game) and I said hey can you mute your mic. He didn’t and kept talking and I said hey no one wants to hear your conversations. Then others started asking him to mute his mic. He said, and I swear he said this, “please cuss me out so I can report you”.
Allegedly, if someone reports you for in game voice commutation/harassment/bullying. Xbox/MS uses an AI that will scan said incident and scan keywords coming from your voice output. So even know it was him trying to edge us on to do so, it would be our voice output being scanned.
That is the perfect reason why we use Teamspeak. We don’t put up with that crap PERIOD! . No need to report anyone. We invite anyone to join us on Teamspeak. If a person creates hate and discontent on my Teamspeak server we ban them for life!
It’s that Simple!! ![]()
This has been my biggest complaints about halo is lack of mics and communication so I feel for the OP. The Xbox looking for games like was said is usually people with mics which is why they’re there to find like people. It’s a good way to go. Not too long ago me and another person on the team had to listen to some guy talking to his wife about vacations so we started chiming in since we had to listen to it anyways. Soon there was a debate about where the best beaches were and his wife took the mic from him to start asking questions about planning a vacation. Never know what’s going to happen I guess
I have no problem talking in parties with my friends or some people I meet on discord. Otherwise I tend to avoid it in all games. I don’t want unsolicited messages, Snapchat requests, and other weird comments when I’m gaming. I’ve had some rough experiences with guys I thought I knew, dealing with random dudes doing it isn’t amusing anymore.
This is so true in ranked. It is SUCH a team based gamemode yet people only care about their kills like its FFA slayer. I turn on mic in ranked to call out enemies. Even if no one else is on VC most people can at least hear me.
It’s an extremely frustrating piece of the game not having communication. I literally only try to play when I’ve got a friend that I’m with and I know he’s talking. The game is very boring when no one communicates.
I cannot speak for consoles as I play on PC. But they have included a way to mute people from the score board. It requires buinding a new command to a key, which by default is unbound to anything. My Recommendation is Space Bar on the PC.
The command you want to bind is called “Scoreboard Interact”

Now, when you bring up the Scoreboard with presumably TAB and hold it, hit the Space bar and now you’ll be able to freely scroll through players. This is how you both mute individual players, and report people.

You can also report/mute multiple people.
