Why does no one work together in Warzone?

I’m amazed more and more the more I play Warzone that no one works together. Nobody will drive anybody in a Warthog. Nobody will use their ghost or gungoose to cover the slow and bulky tanks from getting boarded. Nobody works together to push onwards towards a base. One thing I’m noticing is that no one uses up on the D-pad that marks somewhere on everyone else’s screens. I literally have seen ONE person use it, and it was yesterday.
Even without communicating via mics, it seems like people should know that they should cover their bulkier teammate with a ghost, or that they should drive their teammate in a rocket hog. Teams would be so much more effective if we had ghosts escorting Scorpions, Warthogs traveling in pairs, or friendly Banshees covering each other. People seem to lack the sense of teamwork that was present in Halo 3 and Halo Reach, where people weren’t so worried about their K/D as they were about the team winning.
And FYI for you who refuse to drive a teammate around in a Warthog, there’s a wheelman commendation for it, and there’s really no other way to get it than drive someone in a warthog.
As much as possible, if I see a teammate in a turret of a driverless Warthog, I hop in and drive. The only times I don’t are if say, I had just called in a rocket launcher or something or if the warthog is on fire.

Please consider these things-the team as a whole will benefit.
Potato Out.

Yeah, you’d think that a big map and big teams would have team strategy. Nope! Get a base by yourself and hope you don’t die!

Don’t get me started on people flying their banshees and ghosts into armories where they’re easily hi-jacked…seems like every round I hijack someone who did that.

The things you describe are what 12 man teams did. They coordinated and it was fun. But people don’t like “teams” in warzone remember? They don’t want to face a coordinated team because they don’t want to play as a coordinated team. People just want to run around and shoot stuff, then complain because the actual coordinated players were “tryhards ruining warzone”.

I suppose this is the truth.
For me the only time I have a ton of fun is when I’m communicating with my real-life friends and we can coordinate attacks and REQs that we call-in. Obviously not everybody wants to chat with strangers (understandable) and so there’s a bit of a problem. But you don’t need to be communicating with your team to use common sense and cover them.

True. There are some common sense things that people should just do, like not run away from a base being captured by the enemy. Some folks just don’t have awareness or don’t care. I think it’s usually 5-6 players on each team that determine the outcome and everyone else is just soaking up ammo. Seems that way anyway.

That warthog is usually driverless for a reason and it’s really annoying when your in a perfect spot to use your turret on the warthog then someone just gets in and drives it into the battlefield

I understand those times; you often see that with Rocket or Gauss hogs. I’m talking about when they’re parked at the entrance of the home base or something towards the beginning of the match.

cause the multiplayer its very different to other games, and maybe the people who played

Because we try to complete objectives on WZFF.

Cooperation leads to one team performing well. That’s unacceptable. It’s a more enjoyable game experience to have twelve idiots acting independently. Everyone sucks. Everyone is happy.

That has literally nothing to do with the subject at hand. Do you even read the first post before commenting?

And to answer the OP’s question, I think many people are so focused on personal gain that all teamwork goes down the drain. Why would they drive your Warthog when it means that they don’t get kills? Or why stick near an ally that might take their kill when they can go solo and take the glory for themselves? This sort of thing is unfortunately not new to Halo.

Why risk your K/D with a gunner who might not be a good shot? Not that the Hog’s much use these days anyway, considering how easy it is to team-spam both driver and gunner down…

Welcome to online gaming :v

I dont trust my hog gunner or driver, and when i only cover tanks when im on foot. I think most people are out for themselves in warzone, as long as we can pull together to get the boss kills, i dont care what they do.

this is actually possible? lol

I’m laughing because I windmill the turret just like the AR. I just can’t shoot it straight. I try to drive but the driver never lets me and so I’m stuck shooting everything except enemies.

Yeah, I saw someone use it in Arena yesterday.

Warzone wasn’t created with team work in mind. Much of the system mechanics of Halo 5 are catered towards solo play.

Earning Exp for everything you do, rather than winning games.
K/D ratio, in every mode, in every game, for the kids that care about it.
High focus on individual spartan abilities, instead of teamwork.
REQs for weapon and vehicle spawns, instead of working together to make sure the best person gets the right equipment at the right time. Meaning there’s less need for talk and worry about if you can use what you have, it’s your REQs, and the rest of your team has theirs.

SO while I get that Warzone can totally be run over by Teams who work together. YOu can run any game in a team and you will always do better than a side that isn’t working together. With modern design philosophies comes a higher focus on individual enjoyment and reward.

These games have more reward for solo play, and that devalues the rewards for social play.

It’s a shame, because I work with children and development. Social Play (being given environments and tasks where you are forced to interact and work together) are crucial for development of social skills (learning to make friends, work as a team, not be selfish) and I always considered video games a great tool for this, but not so much anymore.
