If you look at the Mk V in Halo 5, it just looks awful. The helmet looks like it got flattened by a hammer, its front vents look like it had its wisdom teeth taken out, the body armor has pointed shoulders and generally looks like a box, and the “cup” looks like it came from the Spongebob episode where Squidward went back in time!
What happened 343? your MK V in Halo 4 looked great, but why does Halo 5’s just -Yoink- on the design.
My guess is too many people complained about the Halo 4 version, based in the CEA model.
Its funny, everyone says they like the mark V original, but when they pick their favorite version it’s always the Halo 5/reach versions that are HORRIBLY INACCURATE and so far the CEA/H4 model has been the best looking recreation yet.
I did love the Halo 4 MK. V. Used it as soon as I got the bundle.
It’s like the fiasco that was Halo 4’s ODST Armor. For some reason they revisit iconic beautiful armors and destroy them. I will never understand the true intentions of 343i.

…you do realize the only difference in the armor for the ODST was they made it smoother, and fixed the visor to be wider and more manageable looking right? The helmet detail is even the same despite the visor change, and all the parts of the armor are near identical, minus the kibble on older models.
I I think it’s the superior, sleeker, more “Halo”
ODST like in Halo 2, when they were more believable looking.
I don’t get why people hated the Halo 4 Mark V design… Like that was much more truer to the original design. But as the description stated on the Mark V alpha, the set is a complete revamp of the original mark V armor. I wouldn’t mind having it again, but the legs could use a little more bulking. It kinda looks like he skipped leg day during spartan training.
I ALMOST like the armour but it’s just a little off, the skinned variant (is it reflex?) looks ok. The helmet however I loathe, can’t stand it, I think it looks terrible and nothing like the original Mk V.
The waist armour looks like people are running around in metal diapers XD it’s so funny to see people actually wear Mk V
It doesn’t look absolutely terrible, but I can see how people would get upset.
Well you see, everyone thinks that it is supposed to be Johns armour. They are wrong though. In reality, it is based off of Chiefs clone.
…the clone has some problems.
I have no clue but I wished they stayed to Halo Reach design of it.
343 are notoriously bad at armor design. You want the epitome of poor armor design? look up the Halo 4 concept model for Hayabusa. I’m so glad they cut that from the game.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, that armor looks plenty awesome to me.
343 mixed up the Mark IV and Mark V helmets… #343problems
This armor is arguably more accurate than Halo 4’s if you study the details on the armor itself. However, it’s totally off in regards to its proportions. I’ve seen this fan version posted here before, and it shows what a more faithful design can look like in 343’s art style, rather than this one.
It’s just another case of 343 putting their “unique touch” to something classic and hard to screw up.
I’d much prefer if they stuck to the Halo 4 design. I never liked the body of the Mark V from Halo 4 (more specifically, the chest plate), but the helmet was absolutely amazing in terms of how accurate it was to the original CE helmet. If they should make any design changes to the Mark V in Halo 5, it should be to add the arm, shoulders, helmet, and legs from the Mark V from Halo 4, keep the current body the same except for adding the front pouches to fully cover the abdomen.
No how is it terrible? It is just a unique version of Mark IV.

The person who drew the first image can’t draw helmets, or decided to take “creative Liberty” and ruin it on purpose. The mark V should never have that stipid visor crease, and the visor needs to be wider in general. On top of that the helmet looks snubbed, fart too flat.
The he rest of the design is pretty awesome, but I still think the H4/CEA model look the better, even if the changes are more apparent. It just feels right.
