I’m beyond frustrated with this game and I just do not understand why the games like this. Why, in a team game, does my K/D matter more than my objective time? If I wanted to climb in ranked (who doesn’t) why would I ever play the objective? The higher I climb the less people care about playing the objective and the more its just infinite slayer with a time limit. For a game that pushes the competitive scene so hard why have there been 0 changes to the ranked system whatsoever?
The simple answer is that it doesn’t.
KD doesn’t affect your rank.
At the end of the game your CSR changes;
- With the result W or L.
- With the skill gap between you and the enemy.
- With the pull of your MMR (your CSR resists moving away).
Factors 2 and 3 are different for everyone - which is why the breakup of CSR is different.
Again. It doesn’t.
The only personal performance metrics are kill rates and death rates. KPM and DPM.
They are only weightings. And they only act on your MMR. Which can then influence your CSR in the next few games.
When Microsoft looked at all the other metrics; K, D, A, KD, KDA, K-D, objective score, medals, etc. They found that none of these increased the accuracy of the ranking system. That’s not to say they aren’t important - just that they are already reflected in the way you play and the result of the game.
Essentially all the objective games are Slayer. Just with an objective.
The best time to play the objective is when you have the numbers advantage.
Of course, you will get the players who think they need a high KD to rank up. This is on 343 for poorly explaining the system. And a waste of time for everyone. They aren’t going to rank up any higher - and they are just wasting everyone’s time.

Would also want to throw in my two cents of objective doesn’t make you a better player. For example, I was playing a match of CTF in quick play. The only guy who scored a flag was the same guy who I watched drive a warthog off the edge of the map. I don’t think he should be advancing further than me when I had more kills and defense time, alongside assists.
