Why does Johnson tap on Chiefs POD

This is in first cutscene of Delta Halo game Halo 2

To wake him… in case he’s asleep… after having said something roughly 20 seconds ago… and having Cortana to wake him…

Honestly, though, I’ve no idea. Maybe it’s a military thing as I’ve seen the knocking on cars and other vehicles in other movies and games to signal to the driver he’s good to drive off. Perhaps he was letting Chief know they were about to drop and he should brace himself.

It was probably a way of acknowledgement, in the same way as tapping someone on the back I guess…

Acknowledging that both of them are on the same page.

to make sure he’s not fapping

Good luck on the mission, because he had to literally beat the ship(t) outta the Prophet of Regret, and get back to the amber clad.

I think the same thing, just to make sure he’s alive and kicking still

You know the times when we shake hands, pat someone on the shoulder or the back as an acknowledgement. Well Sgt. Johnson tapped the pod for the same reason. That, or to make sure the Chief wasn’t sleeping like a brick!
