Fortunately, unfortunately, I play with several guys on PC and they have the same issues sporadically as well. Just keeping the post alive in hopes that 343 pays attention and does something.
Am I able to play games? Yes, but these issues make it unpleasant at times.
Ironically, when I switch over to my Series X the game is flawless.
You think 100FPS is good or fine? 100FPS is trash dude. I usually get 200-240 fps with a 2070 with no frame drops which is just slightly less than I want since I got a 240hz monitor, but it’s impossible to get a 3080 so have to wait. Yet in Halo infinite I get at most 140 with several frame drops a game.
Now for people just playing casually, that’s fine, but this idea that as long as a game runs at above 60fps being fine is simply not true for a lot of people
Preach it brother. I have a 9900K paired to a 3080 Ti and I have monitored my frame rates and I see similar issues to what you are talking about. Keep posting so that 343 sees this!
I agree… but I don’t think many people out here ready to spend 1.5k+ on a GPU. Seeing as how scalpers and corporations are gouging people, I ain’t paying nearly 3k for a 3090. Just to play an FPS game. lol
I have a 1660 Super and getting 98-106fps which is more than enough, and I play ranked. This is on medium with a few ultra settings.
The main issue isn’t the fps per say… (it needs to be higher sure) but the drops are what’s the worst. Go from smooth to jarring.
Yeah, like I said. I want to get a 3080, but am not going to pay scalper price so sticking with my non-super 2070 and I get 100-140 frames with drops. That is half of what I get in other games. And 100 fps is not enough if you want to play at the best of your own abilities. You can have fun with it no doubt and just looking at it, it could look fine, but it’s a clear noticible difference between 100FPS and 200FPS and for a lot of people that is not good enough. The game is clearly horribly optimized and I hope they fix it. It’s not the biggest issue with the PC version of the game so I get that it can take a while, but this should never have been like this in the first place.
I read through this thread a bit and see a lot of “well it’s fine for me.” A lot of these commentators don’t seem to understand the underlying issues like “hey I run the game at 60fps on 1080p that’s great!”
The real problem here is that all hardware is underperforming from what it should be. The visual quality of the game never matches the resources it hogs and the results it produces.
For reference I have a 6700XT, 3900x, 16GB of RAM at 3200MHz. On a game with similar visual quality running on Ultra (Apex Legends) I get 140fps on average. On Halo I get around 60-90fps on High WITH the dedicated driver. Not only is it wildly underperforming it’s so unstable. The crazy jumps and dips make it so jarring to play. I’d honestly rather play on locked 60fps, but if you use their framerate limiter it starts scaling your resolution even when it doesn’t need to. It’s just a mess.
Problems today are probably the worst that they have been.
This afternoon I could not even get into a match. It would load as far as saying it was getting the other players together, the percentage would count up into the 90s, and then say it could not find a server.
I came back an hour later, and I got into a game after three attempts and two game restarts, but the game never finished.
The lag was so bad I ended up getting booted out of the game, but before I was booted five other players were removed from the game. Two on my team and three on the other team.
WTF 343. Seriously, my patience has finally run out and I’m done with Halo INfinite until you get this -Yoink!- fixed. I am not going to waste my time, have my stats destroyed because you fools can’t get your game to run right on PC.
The biggest mistake 343 Industries was thinking they can make a new game for both Console and PC.
What happened was, 343 Industries managed to get Halo 5 forge and the Master Chief Collection onto PC ; And they said, “ Hey, if we can do that, we can make Halo Infinite for PC for its launch along side with Xbox users, that and PC players drop more money on games than console users! “
Halo Infinite should of been a console exclusive title, it would of brought in WAY more sales for the game and for Microsoft. The could of figured out a solid system for the battle pass and in game shop. The campaign would be way better and more likely made sense and had a solid connection to Halo 5. They could of figured what major issues were / ARE currently with Infinite, then did what they did with the MCC and started to port the game over and make it compatible with PC and Xbox players.
See you understand. You ain’t sweeping anything under the rug…
I can’t run Infinite on my $5000.00 custom built PC, When I get it running, it crashes mid game or while booting up, My PC was built to play Star Citizen and when running that, there IS NO LAG what so ever, my frame rates don’t drop, no crashes, it just -CRISP-
Yes, there 2 different games, but Star Citizen is actual OPEN WORLD game / Space Simulator, That game for a majority of its community constantly crashes if your build / setup isn’t up to date. ( BTW The game isn’t even complete, it still in a Start up / Kickstarter phase ) Halo Infinites In game shop and the constant crashes make the game feel like its in a start up phase too.
Multiplayer last night was some of the worst lag my friends and I had experienced. I said I wouldn’t come back but they said we had to play. Sadly, all four of us who are all on PC had an awful experience. We actually had choppy lag last night which is not the same “lag” that we have had in the past.
We tried to get into several matches and got kicked out either individually or as a team.
We tried doing a ranked match and two of us got kicked out which resulted in us being banned and the other two finished the game.
We finally all went back to Halo MCC because Infinite PC runs like a piece of -Yoink!-.
yet they haven’t addressed it at all… I have a 6900xt and cant even play in my native resolution above 170fps with the settings all the way down. Even when I do get a stable framerate by lowering my res to sub 1080p and lock my frame rate it feels awful. It is easily the worst feeling FPS I have played on PC, ever. Hell Splitgate’s alpha felt and looked better than this garbage. Which keep in mind is a dev team with 20 something people who literally started out in a college dorm room around the time 343 started working on Infinite…
Well the PC issues at Raleigh (HCS LAN event, just in case you are unaware) in my mind sort of forces their hand on the matter. I don’t know exactly when they’ll patch it, but it definitely isn’t their top priority.
The overall decline of PC players (according to steamcharts alone) sort of makes that platform seem less relevant to the game, but that being said I do think they’ll improve it on PC over time.
I have a 6900xt and it still runs horribly, 3080 will just make it suck a little less. I run lowest settings at 75% render res (1080p) and getting around 160 fps. But it feels much much lower. And its not even about the frame rate, game just feels awful – its stutters, input lag, mouse and keyboard feels atrocious. Just feels bad. I have tried anything and everything to fix, even different builds of windows – their game just plain and simple isnt finished, and they wont even admit it. They have no problem talking about microtransactions and issues with the store… But havent said a word about PC performance, input imbalance, crashing – the list goes on.
I,m running a $5k rig with aa 3080ti and the mulitplayer gameplay is complete trash. Microsoft and Bungie need to get on this or this tittle is gone for me.
