EA Games looked at Mobile Gaming and said âMicrotransactions hmmmm. . . . . . . . how can we implement these to suck money from these suckers?â and then they made Microtransactions in Dead Space 3. They eventually realized that it worked better in multiplayer games.
Other developers followed suit.
And BLAMO
Now it is an industry standard to have a multiplayer game with overpriced transactions for either a Pay-To-Win experience or for cosmetics.
All because companies that have over a dozen studios and no publishing platform that they themselves own desired to make easy money.
Infinites loosing players rapidly so faster they bring in the update to unlock free armour the better. This far in and I still refuse to be a part of that scham.

According to the achievement list, only 23% of people bothered to even beat the first boss.
Not to mention the people playing on game pass as well.
That is probably why they wonât get rid of microtransactions. They knew campaign alone was not going to be enough.
I donât like the bundles in the shop but there are certain unique things I would like to buy.
Zvezda Helmet or some armor coatings for maximum 400 credits.
I think they would make more money if they sell individual items instead of bundles with stuff that most people arenât interested in.

Yes, but $59.99 x millions x 1 (being the number of times players have to pay).
However, the store is up to ($20 x millions x a lot) , because they can keep selling armor, emblems, colors, effect, etc + ($59.99 x fewer millions x 1) for those that bought the campaign.

This is honestly what I never understood about the hype surrounding Reachâs progression system and progression systems moving forward. It initially took 167 days of maxing out XP to unlock the ability to purchase every piece of gear in Halo Reach, 47 days if you didnât grind through an additional 5 tiers of non-rewarding XP gains.
Grinding is not nor has ever been a fun mechanic. Itâs a psychological tool designed to lock players into a path for consistent population numbers by giving them a false sense of working towards something worthwhile. Some grinds are less egregious than others, but Halo Reachâs was really bad.
This is why I advocate for a mix of 3 and Reachâs unlock system with a certain amount of armor locked behind achievements and the rest of the armor locked behind a Reach like progression system.
You have challenge unlocks for those that prefer faster but more challenging rewards and the standard progression armor for the people that prefer the grind.
People bought the full game and the F2P part was stripped off from the main game so they got paid and they got paid by people paying for GPU. Itâs a bit ridiculous to assume they didnât get paid. Iâd hardly call charging ridiculous prices for lazy things like color something they should not be bragging about for income. Most people who got the payments are more likely the management. At this point I just see the âshopâ as nothing more than exploitationâŚseeing as all the items together can cost over 1k in real money.
Kinda like how Borderlands 2 did its cosmetic unlocks. Itâs not âHaloâ, but it had a really solid unlock foundation.

Achievements fair enough not every one has the clsssics to this day. But what about earning credits based on your own skill?
For some it was a slower pace but that seems to be the case now anyway.
Greed is why, people can sit there and say âoh they need to make money somehowâ but when your CEO is taking in most of that themselves itâs not cause they really need the money lmao. Theyâre penny pushing the customers as much as they can get away with. Base sales alone already pay for most games, the extra money after that then goes into improvements to technology, future content as well as budgeting for the sequel games but you will have to be naiveâŚto think stores are their to pay for the employees. Theyâve already made their money, they arenât getting more from the store profits.

Reach had caps on its end of match payouts, with the âJackpotâ mechanic being the biggest determining factor for how many more credits could be earned. Only certain modes would guarantee hitting the ceiling like BTB, Infection, or Grifball due to the ability to get atrocious amounts of kills.
If the proposed progression system actually rewarded XP fairly for performance/involvement, there shouldnât be a problem with its introduction.

Halo reach did it. Basically qhen you play a gane and earn point it adds up to your credit score. The better you did the more you could earn. Most players used firefight for their advantage.
