I don’t know why there needs to be a deep discussion on how good or valuable 4, MCC on release, 5 or Infinite are, they all suck in their own special way.
Well it’s a pretty subjective take as to whether to core foundation works or not, and it’s impossible to chalk up this game’s player retention issues to any single factor. Personally, I think it’s got more to do with the awful progression/challenge systems and the lack of variety in modes and playlists as seen in the early months of season 1.
As for Halo 3 and Reach, it’s pretty well established that 343i’s yet to capture that kind of lightning in a bottle again. Also, Reach was a step down from H3 in terms of critical reception and player count. I love Reach and always have, but a lot of original trilogy fans absolutely hated that game in the first few years it was out (basically until H4 came out, and even then it was a popular narrative to suggest that 4 was bad because it ‘built on Reach’ instead of H2/3.)
Very high IQ post…
.
I don’t chalk it up to a single factor. Here is what I chalk up to players leaving Infinite:
-
The over monetization of the game
-
The free 2 play model being a detriment to the game rather than an asset, cheaters are running rampant.
-
The stability issues
-
Lack of any kind of OG Halo features
-
The constant lying and promise breaking from 343
-
The double speak from 343
-
The terrible sandbox
-
The CONSTANT removal of glitches that players use to make Campaign more enjoyable
-
The outright removal of the “fun factor” that every previous Halo game had.
-
Lack of proper communication from 343
-
The overrated gameplay that honestly isn’t even close to as good as any of the previous iterations.
-
The fact that every update to this game seems to add more bugs than it fixes.
These guys will never admit that 5 was a better platform to do there 10 year plan than infinite ever will be.
You just described the scattershot and the pro pipe. Both superior weapons than the crap infinite has.
Right now I’m unsure which weapons you’re trying to relate as the features present are analogous between the 4 in some manner.
I hate responding to topics that have been dead for months, but you might have some constructive aspects to add if you put out some effort. Elaborate and get specific on your points, might be a worthwhile conversation if you respond within a decent timeframe.
Because it is. A lot better…
Man, you can’t compare like that. The industry is huuuuugeee now, it wasn’t that time h3, reach was released.
I don’t want to say Infinite is perfect, it definitely isn’t and it has pretty big problems, but you can’t compare that way, sorry.
Forgive me for the heresy, but I think that reach btb was bad, devs 4v4 maps was garbage exept a couple of them, weapons was kinda meh. Reach strong sides was forge/custom and invasion, but I’m not a fan of invasion to be honest, but people played reach. Why? I havo no clue.
I spend much better time with H5 mp and Infinite mp now.
P.S. By the way I’m not og halo boy talking h2/h3 mp was better, reach was a departure from something and I love reach campaign.
Lets also not forget, Halo 5 was getting monthly updates and each updates added new weapons, granted a returning mode, atleast 2 new maps, and new armor,
meanwhile Halo infinite, struggles to get 2 maps, some modes and armor, No new weapons or vehicles, all within SIX Months, while Halo 5 was cranking out atleast 10x the content in the same period of time.
343i, this game is a monument to all youre sins.
5 was stated to have no more space for new content.
So yeah, it certain could have been better but spacing wasn’t having it.
Halo 5’s abandonment while MCC got more love? Doesn’t that seem strange to you?
Not really, Halo 5 finished it’s planned roadmap. Infinite wasn’t anywhere close to ready, and 343 had one last mess to clean up, MCC, so using the time between Monitor’s Bounty and Infinite’s release, 343 decided to polish MCC up to be at least a presentable game. The glow up was outstanding, MCC is no longer the game people make fun of, it’s the game everyone goes to because of how much better it became.
Someday, a seven years down the line, Halo Infinite may very well be regarded in such a sense as well.
It also helps that modes like Forge arrived much faster too in comparison.
The difference between MCC and Infinite, was MCC issues came mostly from servers or an abundance of easily patched bugs. Infinite’s issue is that the coding itself is just horrendous, as in nobody working on the game knows how the coding works because 343 decided to use rotating contractors for Infinite instead of a dedicated development team like they did with MCC.
The reality is Infinite will NEVER even remotely come close to being 1/10 as good as MCC simply due to the fact that it’s bugs, issues, lack of content, aren’t just deep rooted into the games code, it’s the fact that 343 doesn’t have a dedicated development team for Infinite, and even if they did, Infinite has already lost the majority of the playerbase it had, meaning what we have right now is most likely going to be the peak of Infinite for the rest of its lifespan.
343 will not be capable.
But Studio 117 will be.
