Why does halo 5 seem like a better game then infinite, in a lot of ways

ignore him. He is just a butthurt h5 kid. He will go to any length to defend h5 but the moment you use logic he will back out. So yeah just ignore him

You know I don’t defend Halo 5 but atleast it got a roadmap

please man. I beg you not to use that word. Gives me ptsd as a halo fan

I’ve played Halo since the days of Blood Gulch LANs in the basement, and I loved H5.

H2 changed dramatically compared to HCE. H3 changed dramatically compared to H2. HR changed dramatically compared to H3. Etc…

Just because it plays differently than its predecessors doesn’t mean a great Halo game isn’t still living in the bones of H5’s gameplay

Halo 5 - developed over a few years with a slightly tweaked engine and accidentally used Brian Reed’s cringy fanfiction he was secretly writing instead of the ACTUAL script that was greenlit by Xbox Studios.

Halo Infinite - developed over a few years with a heavily tweaked engine and a team that probably had a lot of inner-circles pushing around to make the game follow what Halo 5 set up and continue with the shoddy art style while others wanted a return-to-normal art style and a story that ignores Brian Reed’s cringeworthy fanfiction.

And yet they can be played back-to-back and be recognized as the same trilogy of games. Whereas going from Halo 3 to Halo 4 feels like someone heavily modded another game to look somewhat like Halo and then tried to claim it was indeed Halo.

But that’s the thing ,champ. It ain’t Halo regardless of how much the minority you’re part of fools itself. The crap reskinned maps, COD kill times, useless radar and many more of the ‘‘new’’ features don’t help it’s defense either.

  1. H5 had a couple all-timers for 4v4 maps. Coliseum, Truth, Plaza, and The Rig are all excellent maps that will stand the test of time very well. It also had some of the greatest forge maps of all time. No dev made BTB maps is H5’s only real map misstep.
  2. CoD kill times? This is only true for high level reqs in Warzone. H5’s kill times are right in line with other Halo games, so I’m not sure what you’re saying here. This just sounds like you’re regurgitating an internet talking point, without the actual experience to know what you’re saying is not true :grinning:
  3. I never had a huge issue with H5’s radar like a lot of people. Sorry you disliked H5’s radar, but that’s a pretty small issue in the scope of an entire breadth of a game. The fact that an issue this small has made your “summary list of complaints” more shows me that you don’t have a ton of actual issues with the game.
  4. What new features did H5 have that you felt didn’t fit Halo’s core gameplay values? (Equal starts arena shooter)

Claiming ‘most people hate H5’ it’s completely inaccurate. Everyone hates the campaign, sure. Most people will say H5’s MP was good, just not their favorite. That’s a far cry from “everyone hates it”.

Halo 5 will probably seem like the better game to some as it is basically complete. It received multiple updates to help the game and Halo Infinite… well, it simply hasn’t yet.

I do prefer Halo Infinite’s sprint system however. It’s more balanced as Sprint isn’t too good. Sure it gives you a small boost to your speed, but other than that you can still navigate the map without sprinting just fine.

Collision was way better though. I haven’t really seen anyone say that the lack of player collision is a good thing. 343i probably couldn’t get it working so made a lame excuse to say why it’s disabled now.

Currently, Halo 5 is superior to Infinite in nearly every way. Infinite is a buggy, incomplete, unsupported, uninspired, lazy attempt at recapturing the nostalgic feel of Halo 3.

You may not like the story of the Halo 5 campaign, but at least it had one. Spoiler, watch the trailers for Halo Infinite and you are completely caught up on its story. Oh yeah, you want to play with a friend, NOPE!! Do you want to select a mission to replay… NOPE!!

And MP? You get no maps, BTB that may or may not let you in, cheating, desync, collision issues, weapon issues, very few game types, and no PvE mode.

How about Forge? Neither game released with it but Infinite will be out for nearly a year before it reaches the player base, and that is best case scenario. Infinite is a complete train wreck right now.

I am not saying Halo Infinite can’t and won’t grow into something better, but Halo 5 is currently the better game, hands down.

you mean the abomination they tried to call a story with 100% misleading trailers?

which one? Which one trailer containes the whole story? none of the trailers show why the banished attacked or why chief is on zeta halo.
Lets twist this YOU MAY NOT LIKE THE TRAILERS FOR INFINITE BUT ATLEAST THEY WERENT MISLEADING

i really wish they would have let us hunt down the chief

yeah atleast it would have some consistency.

didn’t they give away the whole story in a cutscene in the second mission in 5 ?

halo 5 is awful, you’re crazy

I’ll take misleading trailers and a real campaign vs a story so shallow it can be played out in a trailer.

  • Chief is space picked up by Bro Hammer
  • He and Bro Hammer crash on Zeta Halo
  • Chief recovers the Weapon
  • Chief defeats Escharum
  • Chief meets and defeats Endless Harbinger

Pretty well sums it up, and it’s all in the trailers. Again, Infinite is a complete mess and currently cannot compare to Halo 5. Development was rushed across the board, they had no plan as to how to support a live service and they losing significant talent every couple of months and it shows in Infinite. Not saying it cannot be improved, but if you think Infinite is in a better place than Halo 5 was, you’re kidding yourself.

This 100%! Yet people still want to blindly hate on Halo 5 for no reason. Shows what society has become nowadays. I gladly will take 3 Blue Team missions over an entire “campaign” with a story so bloody shallow that the trailers play it out easily. Sure, Halo 5 had misleading trailers, but Halo (In)finite is actually a whole lot worse with its false advertising, although most of it wasn’t even in YouTube videos. 343 claimed that Halo (In)finite would end up having the biggest customization of any Halo game to date, yet that was quickly proven a lie with all the paywalls and armor cores! I wouldn’t even get excited for any Halo 5 armor sets coming to (In)finite anyway because they could very likely be visually ruined.

As a bonus, Fred from Halo 5 is now playable in Serious Sam Fusion. Which means I now get to have unlimited levels where I play as him!

Not saying you’re wrong, but the transition of gameplay is better if you play from 3, to Reach, THEN to 4. Halo 4 was built on a lot of things Halo Reach had, basically being “Halo Reach 2.” Still, is a newcomer really gonna play in that order? No, I’d actually be surprised if that happened.

And therein lies the issue.

Sequels are supposed to play like the previous one in the main lineup.

Halo Reach was a Spin-off title. A great one none-the-less, but Halo 4 plays more like Halo Reach 2 instead of a game worthy of being called Halo 4.

Halo CE to Halo 2, the game plays just about the same. Only now you have a wider selection of weapons, dual-wielding, and vehicle boarding.

Halo 2 to Halo 3 plays just about the same as well, only now you had the option of equipment to toss out for a one-time-use gimmick to alter the immediate encounter.

Halo Reach offered pre-built loadouts in most PvP matches per spawn and your equipment was now rechargable for multiple use rather than single use. Reach also had a slightly divergent art-style when compared to the other games.

Halo 4 decided to look at the game that was the literal previous release and not the actual series timeline latest game and said “lets take all of this… and do it worse!” It was one of the first games of the 2010s to start the trend of “we need to attract more players, lets do unnecessary drastic changes to the game!”

  • Armor Abilities make a return… only they are worse now than in Reach. The Jet Pack is weaker in accelleration, maximum flight time, and maximum altitude possible. The Thruster Pack is literally more useless than Armor Lock and a weaker form of Evade. Regeneration Field does the same thing as Drop Shield but without the shield part. Auto-Sentry is a pea-shooter when compared to the Halo 3 Auto-Sentry.

  • Loadouts are now customizable and introduced perks that made the gameplay less fun and more annoying.

  • The art and sound design is more than divergent. It is entirely different. If I were to crop an image of Master Chief and show him off from the shoulders down, most people would look at that and say “sci-fi space armor guy” because that is what it is. Generic at best. If I were to do that to Halo 3’s rendition of Chief’s armor, people would go “Oh hey, it’s Master Chief… who cropped this image?” Literally the only things that resemble Halo’s design are a couple weapons and Chief’s helmet. And as for sound design? The soundtrack was all over the place. You have a few good tracks here and there… and then you have actual Star Wars overtures breaking the immersion.

Honestly tho, I find it quite strange that there is that argument of “Series Newcomers will be confused otherwise”.

Because if you are new to a series, why the heck are you starting off in the tail end of the franchise? It is the most recent chapter, why are you starting off with little-to-no context of the previous efforts and episodes? Like I can get it if the series is decades old and the classic games are hard to come by, but LITERALLY the entire franchise is available digitally and whenever I go to a game store anywhere, I can reliably find copies of the older games ON THE CHEAP !!
“I am new to Borderlands… better start off with Borderlands 3.”
“I am new to Gears of War… better start off with Gears 5.”
“I am new to Halo… better start off with Halo 5 Guardians.”

Are there really people with that mentality? Like you’ve heard great things about the games from your friends so you obviously want to get in on it… but you’re not going to get the games that they are praising and are instead going to get the freshest one in the franchise?

Additionally, trailers and other forms of marketing aren’t essential to begin with.

of so according to you h5 has a better story than infinite? ok then do a poll which one is better. you will have your answer. When did chief crash land on zeta halo?
Chief defeats eschurum yes. btw which is 1000% more interesting than anything 5 did. the harbringer isnt endless.
where is it in the trailers that we will defeat harbringer? or even fight it? what about chak lok or adjutant resolution or any of the boss for that matter?
And what did h5 had for a campaign? you wanna tell me? and dont bs that it wasnt a chief story it was locke story.
Campagin wise every single halo game in exsistance is much better than 5
