Why does halo 3 get a free pass while halo 4 gets all its flaw torn apart? I always hear people saying how halo 3 was the better halo because halo 4 has unbalanced weapons. Why is it like this when halo 3 had the worst weapon balance of any halo game. In halo 3 there was no point in using any weapons other then the sniper rifle, rocket launcher, and battle rifle because of how over powered they were compared to all the other weapons. So why is it that when talking about weapon balance halo 4 is the one getting chunks torn apart form it
Because you didn’t start with those weapons, they were all pickup, and everyone started equal. So the act of getting them and controlling their spawns was a major part of the game.
It’s all related to loadouts and AAs.

Every weapon in Halo 3 is useful. They are all useful, when used at the range and circumstances they were meant to be used in.
Video is up. It is the first and only game I have played today.
No BR, Snipe, Rocket
The only thing I’m trying to show with this video, is that every weapon is good, if used right in Halo 3.
While the AR, is not the best choice when fighting at long range, it is a clear candidate for medium to short range. The key to using short range weapons is to position yourself correctly.

you did though you started with the battle rifle every game seeing as that’s what everyone picked because they didn’t want to start with useless weapons.

Took the words right out of my keyboard.
In Halo 3 everyone started with the same weapons. Halo 4s mix n match loadout system created balance issues where none existed.

Illogical argument. Firstly there were not enough BR for the team. Secondly, what do you do in H4 if there’s a better weapon available, you go and swap your loadout weapon for it.
> In Halo 3 everyone started with the same weapons. Halo 4s mix n match loadout system created balance issues where none existed.
where none existed Id call half the weapons in the game being useless and stupid choices
when faced with the main 3 a dam big balance issue
Am I the only one that remembers the constant BR starts as well as the matches where your team doesn’t get the proper power weapons or vehicles in the first couple minutes and gets spawncamped the rest of the match?
Nostalgia is a powerful thing.

Halo 3 you start with the BR and try to pick up the other power weapons, in Halo 4 you have them all at your feet without dominating the map or playing for the team. In Halo 3 if you team don´t have the powear weapons (rockts, sniper) the BR can still face the opposite team, in Halo 4 when i see a plyer with the inceneration cannon i already know i am gonna die. Halo 3 was more balanced whether you like it or not. Blanced and fun at the same time.

everyone picked the game type where you started with the battle rifle
I wasn’t on the Halo 3 forums as much as I am for Halo 4 but I’m sure Halo 3 got it’s fair share of hatred while it was still the newest Halo.
Halo 4 might just be a little bit easier to hate but what can you do other than come here and express it?
Haters gonna hate. There wouldn’t be much to do here if all we had to talk about is how awesome the game is which wont happen because there is no such thing as a perfect game.
Weapon balance wise I gotta say Halo 4 has the most useful automatics they’re not just weapons you ditch first chance you get anymore IMO.

lol really now? I’d like to see you use a brute spiker competitively. Or a plasma rifle, or even the carbine. Face it, some weapons only existed so the campaign guys had more ways to shoot at you, who are you trying to kid. Anyone playing seriously went for either sniper, shotgun, rockets, or BR
> Am I the only one that remembers the constant BR starts as well as the matches where your team doesn’t get the proper power weapons or vehicles in the first couple minutes and gets spawncamped the rest of the match?
That only happened if you were significantly worse than the other team. If two teams are close in skill it’s extremely hard to hold a spawn trap for more than thirty seconds to a minute.
I am going to play Halo 3 now, use every weapon except the ones you listed, record it and post it here. Let’s see how it goes. In 50 Team Slayer.

I think you’ve mistaken H3 for another game you’ve played. The one I played, sure the BR was the utility weapon, but it had limited range and allowed for all the other weapons to be quite useful as it didn’t stifle map movement.
I remember regularly using the carbine, the sniper, the rockets, the beam rifle, the brute shot, the shotgun, the sword, splaser, SMG and Spiker (when dual wielded), plasma pistol. That doesn’t leave many that weren’t that useful.
In fact, in the right situation I’d pick most of those weapons over the BR, and in H3 those situations were frequent. Not like H4 where the maps are big and everyone plays hidey-seekey-pokey-outy with the DMS.
> Nostalgia is a powerful thing.
As well as often and easily misguided.
