Since all the kids in Halo 3 cried about the announcer, Bungie decided to listen to them, and add a second-long cooldown timer to the flag carrier after he drops it, to prevent flag running. Although Bungie also fixed the announcer to be much less annoying, they kept the flag cooldown. Especially in games with sprint, capturing a flag is a difficult task.
And why does the flag carrier not move slower in Anniversary settings? I remember moving regular speed in CE.
You should just run normal speed with the flag. There was never any reason to ad the dumb feature of continuously dropping the flag and picking it up. Also, “Flag stolen! Flag dropped. Flag Stolen! Flag Dropped!” got very annoying very fast.

That’s… that’s the entire point of CTF. Your flag holder is SUPPOSED to be more vulernable so that your team has to help defend you as you take the flag back.
If you want to be Shooty McBadass while carrying the objective, then it’d make more sense to play Speedflag.
If you want the flag to move normal speed, then set the flag runner to 100%. You don’t need to introduce the annoyance of flag throwing.

Flag running was a skill to get right. There is no reason not to have it, really. With Armor Abilities, you become too vulnerable while holding the flag.
In CE, you moved normal speed with the flag. Why is that not emulated in the Anniversary gametypes?
Why should I have to become a useless snail while holding the flag?

Flag running isn’t a skill nor hard to do. It looks like Bungie finally solved what they were trying to do in 3 when they made the flag heavy as lead.
If you don’t like how slow he moves, then set the run speed to 100% and cut out the flag throwing middleman.
re: Anniversary, you’re gonna have to bring that up with 343 in a new thread or something.

Flag Running was more of an accident in Halo 3, hence why it was stopped in Halo: Reach, although I like how MLG has allowed Flag Running, Vanilla Reach should stay the same, it gives you the idea to protect your team mate and help progress him to the flag capture point.
I would support 90% speed with movement AA’s involved. But WITH cooldown.
You should just move slower in Anniversary in general (110% for everyone, 120% is WAY too fast). If there was cooldown in CE, add it. If not, remove it from Aniversary.
Flag juggling is the stupidest crap anyone ever figured out in halo. Youre suppose to move slow because your team is supposed to be all over you like a cheap suit while you shuffle it home. Also when you juggle you give up ALL stealth capability so your gonna get set upon pretty fast…one of my fav things to do in halo is grab a flag then hide in their base for a minute while they fan out because they think im on the way back to base, ive literally watched 4 enemy backs running directly away from me while i hide using this method. One theyre out of range i start moving, and the fact that their flag apparently just dissipated really screws with the enemy, ive been called a hacker a few times for doing this lol. Also got a beautiful H3 vid in my fileshare of me doing this on zanzibar and literally touching the home plate single handed but i didnt quite make it lol.
To promote ignoring the objective and stat padding instead because you get more kills, medals and credits for doing that.
People needed more inventive not less to play objective and I thought Bungie understood this after Halo 3, clearly they didn’t.
Objective in Reach is a joke because most people treat it as unlimited kill slayer with objective as a distant afterthought if it enters their mind at all.

I suppose that actually countered Flag Juggling in Halo 3, you actually gave up ALL stealth which made it easy for enemies to find you.
Now that you put it that way, Flag Juggling being removed in Reach was a silly idea.

I dont know what youre trying to say here…if you juggle in reach they can see the flag icon too just like halo 3.

I am saying that why did Bungie removed Flag Juggling? You gave up all stealth just like Halo 3 when you juggled it, you were handicapping yourself pretty much and Bungie went and made it even worse in Reach by removing Juggling as a whole.
> I am saying that why did Bungie removed Flag Juggling? You gave up all stealth just like Halo 3 when you juggled it, you were handicapping yourself pretty much and Bungie went and made it even worse in Reach by removing Juggling as a whole.
Because Bungie never intended the flag to be juggled.
It made its way into H2 because H2 was a rush job since it was their first time at crafting a MP experience. Numerous bugs were in the game that they couldn’t remove that the community decided “should” stay, Button Combos and Super Bounces chief among them. Because of the aformentioned two, Flag Juggling flew under the radar and made it’s way into H3.
Bungie did attempt to patch out Flag Juggling in H3 if I remember correctly, only to get a lot of backlash over players from the new flag physics disabling the ability to throw the flag between players.
As for the trade off of between stealth and speed, given the fact that there are only a few paths that are realistically possible and the combination of seeing which direction they were taking the flag upon death, the loss of stealth wasn’t much of a loss at all.
While flag juggling was initially an ‘accidental’ feature, it still is an epic one.
Flag juggling requires focus and some handiness with the controller (increasing the skill gap), and gives you a choice: move faster, but have everyone know what way you are taking, or move slower, but more stealthily?
The flag absolutely needs to move slower, as this encourages teamwork. A flag can’t (and should not be able to) possibly get a flag to his base without external help. I didn’t mind them adding a cooldown for standard Reach (more simple, but less competitive), but i was relieved to see it removed for MLG.
I really support flag juggling, even though I don’t mind it not being in for standard MM.
