Why does everyone want to use the BR in Halo4

After watching countless gameplay videos, dozens of posts etc. about Halo 4 they all seem to have a similar conclusion, that the Battle Rifle is the best primary weapon. I am very curious to why an overwhelming majority of Halo fans are just obsessed with the BR. I know if I had gone to PAX 2012 and played some Halo 4 I would try as many combos and weapons as possible, regardless if I might die from using new weapons. It just seems to me that there is so much nostalgia about the BR, where’s the nostalgia for the DMR? Sure, Halo 2 and Halo 3 had the BR but it was overrated anyway! While playing reach I found I got more 5 shot kills with the DMR than 4 shot kills with the BR.

If everyone starts to use the BR in Halo 4 when the game is released, I am going to be greatly disappointed. 343 industries finally gave us classes like COD, and if everyone uses the BR it will kill the whole purpose. I’m not trying to bash BR fans, go ahead and use it I don’t care at all. I just hope fans of the Carbine and the DMR aren’t worried or afraid that their favorite weapon isn’t usable or is inferior to the Battle Rifle, because it sure isn’t. I’m sure people are going to flame me for this post, or call me a Reach gambit or whatever. But i really hope all you DMR/Carbine or even Light Rifle fans aren’t intimidated by this unbelievable hype over the BR. I’m looking forward to having a diverse and fun multiplayer experience with Halo 4, and I hope all of you will too.

Nostalgia.

Because Halo 3

BR sucks compared to the DMR and LR.

First of all, no.
I haven’t seen anyone saying the BR is the best primary weapon. In fact most of them have been using the Carbine, LR and DMR.
2nd, you can’t get nostalgia for the DMR.
3rd, trust me; most people will use the DMR and Light Rifle as they’re the best primaries.

343 have ruined the BR, it’s a piece of garbage now. There is no point bringing it back.
5 shot my -Yoink-.

I think you have seen only the other side of it, because I have not been hearing that the br is the best primary weapon. Many are going to be using the dmr a lot and LR. I’ll be using the Carbine, dmr and LR.

Because we love the BR it was the perfect gun for almost any encounter. Why arent people excited for the DMR? Well for one you can still use the DMR right now on Reach. It takes forever to get a match in Halo 3 and even then you can still get AR starts. BR > DMR

WELCOME HOME BATTLE RIFLE!!

BR is still good in close quarters.

> BR sucks compared to the DMR

LOL

> BR is still good in close quarters.

No it’s not. The DMR still outshoots it.

Keyword there. It sucks now.

I’ve seen 2 videos, Slave Assassin 11 and Purple Wookies saying the BR is the best but I’ll agree with you about the BR not being the best. It was a mistake on my part to say most people think it’s the best but I want to know, what makes the BR supposedly best at CQC?

Actually the DMR has been said to have less aim assist and in close quarters the BR is better.

NOSTALGIA!!! i love the BR <3

Also im sure i will like the lightrifle but i will always have a br class. As long as it is still decent i will use it all the time.

WooHoo, everyone is excited for the return of the weapon that single handedly overpowered every other regular weapon in Halo 3 and personally ruined the multiplayer for me. Im glad to see other weapons being more effective in Halo 4. In general I wish that they would make a weapon set that gave every weapon an equal footing and actually made other weapons useful, instead of the same old, Mid range rifle, kill, rinse repeat gameplay, that started in Halo 2.

DMR may have less aim assist, but I can miss at least 2 shots and still out-BR anyone. The BR simply does not output enough damage for it to be a viable weapon in any situation.

Honestly I have no idea why the DMR is even in the game. I guess its ok but ill still own people using the DMR with the BR just like I did with the pistol

It’s nostalgia.

I pretty much used the Carbine most of the time, I love how the weapon feels.

I did play around with everything and I honestly thought the BR was the worst choice for me.
The Carbine and DMR seem to be pretty much where it was at for players that can use them.

I consider the BR to actually be the entry level precision weapon. It is the easiest to use, but seems to be a little slower to kill people with.
Basically when I was using the BR, I felt like 1v1’s were a lot closer and than when I was playing with the Carbine, kind of like it was holding me back a little.
Do not try and take this out of context either though, it is very subtle, it was just one of the things I seemed to notice.
The Light Rifle is something I didn’t play around with enough to go super in depth.
I just didn’t like the feel of the weapon compared to the Carbine/ DMR. It does look like it will be popular on maps with longer sight lines because of the 4 shot kill when scoped in though.

In reference to the bold statement… Why do you care if people choose a BR? If you don’t like the BR then… don’t… use… it. You must have some sort of inferiority complex or something b.c. I will be using whatever gun I WANT and will not care one bit if everyone else is using the BR. Why would you be intimidated if everyone is using the BR? Like seriously, if your brain works like that there is something wrong. If the BR suits my playstyle best, I’ll use it. If the Carbine does, I’ll use it. Why does it matter AT ALL to you what gun gets used more by the community.

And I must of been missing all of these posts and videos of people saying the BR is the best primary weapon… or maybe I’m not ridic enough to take how a few people feel about a gun and assume everyone feels that way… maybe I’m crazy!

I didn’t say I was intimidated, I said people might be intimidated by the overwhelming number of BR users. I’m not trying to say the BR is a bad gun… I’m just saying I don’t want 80% of people using it. Let’s say you use a Light Rifle, and score a few kills with it. Invariably you will need more ammo, and because there will be very few Light Rifles to get ammo off of you will be screwed over. This could pressure people to use the BR, which is only bad if the game loses it’s variety. Once again, go ahead and use the BR I’m perfectly fine with it. I just don’t want Halo 4 turning into Halo 3 where everyone worshipped the BR, it’s a gun not a goddess.
