Why does everyone love Exile?

I get that it is a rounded, vehicle-centric map, but -Yoink- is it unbalanced and overplayed. I sincerely don’t understand how it gets 5-12 votes almost every time it rears its ugly head, especially against good maps like Meltdown, Longbow and Ragnarok. I play and despise Exile so much that even Vortex looks good by comparison.

Could someone please explain how Exile is good?

I’ve barely played meltdown to have an opinion, but ragnarock is camp hill (not a huge fan). Exile has good sight lines, good vehicle balence other than gauss hog, and a nice dynamic of areas to control on the map such as center and banshee spawn

I like all BTB maps but Exile just allows for more open space which lets my LR do serious wreckage.

Thats true but -Yoink- it gets so boring after being played 10 consecutive times in a row -__-

a better question is why does everyone pick complex? it’s a piece of -Yoink- map next to construct.

So is ragnarock. I love adrift though because of it’s combinations on indoor and outdoor combat. Same with exile that middle room is close range. Back base is long range and you get mid while moving. Ragnarock is all dmr range all the time and meltdown doesn’t force you anywhere other than the bridge or below the bridge.

Just my opinion.

Also it is second best looking map behind haven IMO and adrift is a close 3rd

I dont think ive been in a game where people picked Complex 4v4 since first week. Everyone picks either Abandon or Haven if they are up because they are only workable 4v4 maps.

It’s really not that bad of a map. Besides for that incredibly annoying Gauss Warthog, the vehicles are good; good central conflict zone (Especially in Dominion, Bravo always has activity) while also having a good vantage point. It has everything needed for a good map, but I do understand your point. As a Christmas noob, I barely know the names of most of the maps…except for the ones constantly voted for: Exile, Haven, Ragnarok, and Complex. The rest, with the exception of Abandon (which I only know because of Regicide), I have no clue until I actually get into the game, but I still forget the names as they are rarely voted for.

I like the map myself, but I wish that there were more maps thrown into the mix. Maybe that would cut down on people choosing one map all the time.

Abandon sucks so much In my opinion. One team starts on high ground and the other on low ground. Guess which team ALWAYS gets middle?.

I personally enjoy complex although I wish the dmr was so OP’d on that one side of the map

I picked Complex for 4v4 today. :slight_smile:

You’re part of the problem then.

because it has a scorpion tank and Gauss hog on it. That is the single reason it gets voted more times than not.

to me exile is the best map on halo 4. it has a lot of places to take cover so it allows for players to have battles even if there are vehicles out there doing damage
i actually like all the halo 4 maps a lot, with the exception of ragnarok.
Ragnarok is just dumb. if you so slightly go to the enemie’s side of the map you are going to get either sniped or killed by all the enemies spawning there.
i’ve never liked maps for slayer where there are definite “bases” for teams.
i like teams to be moving all around the map and not having to worry about a camping sniper just watching the open areas
PS. Im so glad hemorrage is out of my life. i use to quit every time it was chosen. i just was just pathetic if you had bad teammates

hemorrage was the most horrific reincarnation of blood gultch I have ever witnessed. Never thought they could screw up my all time fav halo map.

pick a hologram… send it up there. throw grenades post hologramming. Win top mid

I think that the scorpion should be taken out of exile, the first team to get practically has the match won, and the scorpion doesn’t take much skill to use either, one shot kill on everything in the map, just point, and decimate.

Because its a random as -Yoink- map. Casuals don’t like maps were good competitive players can coordinate their attacks. The map is nooby as -Yoink-.

I agree, I hate exile, it just rubs me the wrong way and everyone camps. My favorite thing though is 343 said they want to make more vehicle friendly maps. All I’ve seen is narrow chokepoints on the so called “big team battle maps” where vehicles get stunned and stuck to oblivion. Add the loads of vehicle killing ordinances with the terrible vehicle health system and you have the most vehicle unfriendly game in the franchise. At least in battlefield vehicles can be repaired and have regeneration…

It’s like when you really like a girl(Scorpion Tank) and you know she is going to be at this place(Exile) so you decide to go just for the chance to hang out with the girl(get east kills in tank) but then someone else takes her(the tank) and you end up killing them both.

I really don’t mind Exile but it is kinda overplayed to the point that I’ve grown somewhat of a hatred for it. Meltdown is an awesome map… What map is snowy and sucks? None of them(except for Snowbound…). Every time Meltdown and Vortex are skipped for Exile I cringe.
