Why does everyone hate Spartan Ops?

It’s one of my favorite new features to the game. Sure, the name is obviously not original, but that can be changed. It might just be a placeholder like Warhouse.

Everytime I see a list of what people hate about Halo 4, Spartan Ops is always one of the complaints. Why?! It’s gonna be way better than Spec Ops, and it will be 5 brand new missions every week for months! This adds on to the game by a lot and keeps players coming back and gives them something to do.

Name; That is all
Also possibility that it may not be a worthy successor to FF(Which I personally am skeptical about).

I like it.

I have no idea. Free Campaign DLC every single week sounds fantastic to me.

I think it sounds freakin awesome!

again sorry for combo breaking but I have been gone for awhile so can someone post a link to this stuff

You hate something just because of it’s name? hmm well you must hate a lot of people and things if you are just going based on name.

I’m looking forward to it.

FF in reach wasn’t even a worthy successor to ODST’s FF. I welcome the new game mode. I don’t feel like I will miss firefight very much.

It sound cool. Still wish regular FF would stay.

This is what we know about the mode:
[/li]- “Think of them as away missions from the UNSC Infinity” – Josh Holmes.

  • Built to be played with your Spartan 4 from multiplayer.
  • The mode let’s up to four players work together on a evolving episodic campaign, comparable in scope and size to the single-player storyline.
  • It is structured like a TV season, each week players get a CG movie that shows the story behind the UNSC Infinity.
  • Along with story, five objective-based cooperative missions will be released
  • The missions being released are new content, offering unseen events, locations, and challenges.
  • You earn “Spartan points” during these missions.
  • Like the campaign, you can set the difficulty to your liking and re-play them as often as you want.
  • They are not paid DLC packs — they are an integral part of Halo 4’s story and will be played out in several months of content.
  • The mode was made to bridge the gap between SP and MP fans.
  • Lead Designer on Spartan Ops is Chris Haluke (previously from Guerilla Games, worked on the Killzone Franchise).

From this, I am quite excited about it. I think people are just stressing after hearing the name “Spartan Ops” as it sounds similar to “Black Ops” and “Special Ops” from Call of Duty.

I’m not ecstatic about the name, but the concept sounds potentially revolutionary.

its not spartan ops that got me upset its the fact that we lost firefight for what I fell is no good reason.

Change the name, it’s the only problem.

Something like Legacies would be better. Or Spartan Legacies.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.

People are just being over dramatic because the name ‘Spartan Ops’ sounds like Call of Duty’s game mode ‘Spec Ops’ all while not having too many details about it yet.

Because, you know. CoD TOTALLY Came up with the words ‘Spec’ and ‘Ops’ in relivance to a FPS.

Firefight got boring really easily, I’m glad it’s gone. Spartan Ops name doesn’t sound good but having new content every week for it sounds awesome. It’s free too

I like it, seems better then FF.

I’unno, a legacy is something that comes after an act. The name should be about the act itself, or the name of the team/squad.

It begins with an “S” and has “Ops” in the name so it’s obviously a rip off of Call of Duty.

I honestly can’t think of a better name to call it. Every other name I’ve heard is either too cheesy/corny or has nothing to do with it.

I don’t think he meant that he hates the concept, just the name itself.
