I mean it isn’t that bad game it had its flaws but it is not that bad
It DESERVES the hate. the campaign level design was awful, the multiplayer was horrible, it had a really REALLY ugly art style and it basically killed the series, Halo 4 is a disgrace. Only thing in the game that’s good is the campaign story. Too bad the gameplay ruined said story.
You know what’s funny about some Halo “fans”? They hate Halo!

Halo 4 was the best game in the series, overall. It had an awesome, albeit long, campaign, an AWESOME multiplayer, great graphics and art, tons of customization, and lots of feeling from Robo-John. The only thing that was a disgrace was the sourpusses who crab about anything and everything that made Halo 4 great. If you love Bungie so much, go buy Destiny. So many people complain about Halo 4, and I believe that it is because they have separation-from-Bungie anxiety.

Thank you.
Alright OP, now that you’ve seen the two extremes of how people feel about Halo 4 I’m going to try to give you an unbiased answer.
The reason why so many people disliked Halo 4 was because they thought it strayed too far from Halo’s roots. To them, Halo was an arena shooter where all players had the same weapons and abilities when they spawned, and if they wanted better weapons like snipers and rockets they had to fight for it. Halo Reach was the first to deviate from this formula by introducing armor abilities as an evolution of Halo 3’s equipment. Everyone could choose an ability, but they still all spawned with the same weapons.
343 took the wheel when Bungie left Microsoft shortly after Reach, and they decided to take this introduction of choice a step further by introducing loadouts in Halo 4 that allowed players to choose a primary and secondary weapon (which included any non-power weapon), a set of grenades, an armor ability, and two perks. Add the fact that ordinance allowed players to obtain weapons that aren’t normally on the map, and people felt that it made gameplay too random and unpredictable. It certainly didn’t help that loadouts and ordinance seemed similar to COD, because there was a sort of fear among the gaming community that all shooters were trying to be like COD, somewhat similar to the red-scare in America during the cold war.
So simply put, Halo 4 was a game that a number of Halo veterans felt was too different from the games they’ve played and grown to love. It is by no means a bad game (there are several other games out there that are much, much worse), as AssumedWarzone, myself, and many other Halo fans love it. But to other Halo fans, it was like getting a roast-beef sub when they wanted a cheeseburger instead. Sure, they’re both beef sandwiches in essence, but they taste quite differently.
I liked Halo 4`s story (campaign) and multiplayer, especially swat. I was better at it than the others.
I don’t know why people don’t like it. I think it’s fun😀

I think the same, and Halo 4’s my favorite game of all Halo/Xbox.
It is because some features wasn’t isn’t complete and some of the features is worse compared to previous Halo titles. The features I mean are the File Share, Theater and Forge and Scoring. Some important features that requires a lo more to be what they should be like.
It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t necessarily very good either. The campaign was fairly well done and wasn’t to difficult to feel involved in with fantastic graphics and great art style. It sits at a fairly well done 8/10 for me.
Spartan Ops was an objective based step down from the campaign, often revisiting already explored areas and was difficult to be immersed in. It would be a 6/10.
The multiplayer was the farthest from the classic ‘Halo feel’ that we’ve ever had, but wasn’t necessarily bad. It introduced new weapons and modes that were eithet hit or miss with thr fans. Lightrifle was a hit along with the Incineration Cannon, Infection wasn’t bad, and Dominion was enjoyable and had potential (imo) whereas others thought it didn’t belong in Halo. The lack of any ‘real’ competitive mode was a big miss that 343i made. All in all, I would give H4’s would be a 6.5/10.
Overall=6.8/10 or 3 stars. Not as bad as some would say.

Small note: Reach had loadouts as well, just not personal loadouts.

My dislike of Halo 4 mainly has to do with the Ordinance system and Loadouts, those pretty much ruined the MP experience for me. My dislike has nothing to do with the fact that 343 started heading up Halo in lieu of Bungie. IMO the campaign was also pretty weak, the Didact was a terrible antagonist, and Del Rio was also just a terrible character (also campaign was only 8 missions, I believe that’s the shortest Halo campaign to date). I much preferred Reach’s customization as well as the darker grittier art style, Halo 4 is very clean, shiny, and smooth (a trend that has continued into Halo 5).
Now that being said, I did like how the campaign was a more personal story about the Master Chief and that 343 actually bothered with some character development. I really enjoyed Spartan OPs, had 343 kept the loadouts and Ordinance strictly in Campaign and Spartan Ops I feel like MP would have been much more successful. I also really liked the Mantis, probably one of the coolest Halo vehicles.

That begs the question: Why are you here? If you hate Halo 4, why do you check its forum?

This thread certainly wasn’t on the front page. It could’ve only be found here, in Halo 4’s forum section. If he hates this game so much, why bother looking its forums in the first place?
Because it was different from the others.
Halo Reach was different too, but Halo 4 was weird.
The campaign sucked too.
I personally thought the story was great, the multiplayer was weak compared to every other halo but still replayable and fun.
I think that many people felt this game strayed too far from all the other halos, but that is one of the things i like about 343i. They’re not afraid to take halo in their own, completely different direction, instead of copying more of the (great) things that bungie did. I also really liked the unique feel and vibe in this game. you just can’t go into it expecting a bungie halo. It’s a different game, but a really good one.
