Why does block feature not work?

If I went in solo or with one other person in mcc and we would get matched against teams of 4 I would block em so we don’t get matched again ever. This does not work in halo 5… I DONT want to play against the same team again.

I agree a feature like this would be nice like on the 360… Although i think its more of an xbox one live issue than a halo 5 issue.

ya they need this to work because i dont like boosting teams on warzone. it ruins it.

To my knowledge, the 360 version never worked for any game I played, and if I recall, it only decreased the chances of playing with those you reported, not completely blocking them from playing with you.

I really doubt it’d be any different with the X1.

See, the issue is “player compatibility” and Matchmaking functionality.

With player compatibility I’m refering to how many players in the player pool have blocked other players, leading to a possible even where quite a few players have blocked each other, while others have not. It’d be a maze to find players who haven’t blocked each other and at the same time provide a good balanced and lag free match (even though that’s not really true now). Not to mention, if this system actually worked and got implemented, we’d most likely see an increase in false reporting just to not play against certain players. I know I had collected quite a lot of reports back from Halo 3 despite playing nice and never even talking.

The other issue, minor perhaps, is how would it practically work? If you find a match in which someone you do not like to play with, does it remove you from the que? Or the one you reported? Meaning the match search would restart. What if it’s the other way? You’re in a match and a blocked player of yours end up in the join que. What if that new player is more suitable both rank wise and connection wise?

The moment blocking people permanently removed them from ever playing with you again would be the moment people start instantly blocking people better than them until they only get people to stomp on. Blocking is taken into account, but it’s not the be-all and end-all. A match is a match regardless of whether or not you appreciate who’s in it.

than the people getting stomped on would block them. it works both ways. besides. i highly doubt you can block a million players.

who ever found a lobby, they are in que and the guy who is either blocked or is the blocker will not get to play with that lobby.

This happened in MCC. It was a huge problem, and nearly ruined the ranking system. Here is a link to an article that explains the MCC exploit and when 343I fixed it.

OP, it is not justified to block people because they are a team of 4 with the intention of avoiding them. I would have never admitted that publicly. Embarrassing. The article straight up calls it cheating, and I don’t think they’re wrong.

Linky. Same thing that happened in MCC will happen in Halo 5 then, people will block good players so they won’t have to play them. I got at least red rep 7 times or so just on my main and a couple of times on alt accounts.

Refusing to back out to the lobby after a game will more often than not, place you in a game with the same people you played.
Reporting players for being better is a terrible solution.

MS fixed what wasn’t broken by 1) making the block function only work in regards to communication and 2) removing the avoid options for too skilled or not skilled enough. I’m chalking this one up to incompetence, personally.

bull. you can try blocking better players, but than the players you are beating up on you can do the same thing. it balances itself out. this way any AFKers, TKers, noobs, etc i can block so i dont have to play with them. they need a black list. i even made a video about this. this is why we need to be able to block players.

so people are stuck playing against people that are better than them or teammates that aren’t skilled enough and thats fair?

i think the idea of blacklisting players helps with other things like boosting parties in warzone assault. you want to full boost spam spawn kill the team? well enjoy the search for new players than.

Players do need a way to block other players it’s was never a form of. Cheating or falsly reporting others in my eyes it was a means of a player blocking a player that player a dubbed not skilled enough and choose to rather not play with player b again when the feature to block or blacklist players was removed the players ability to decide who to play with and or determine there skill was strippid and thus forced to play with players they would prefer not to play with such a afkers team killers ect… I run in to these players daily and yet matchmaking penalties don’t solve the problems blocking these players does
