Why Does An Armor Set Cost $20?

Yeah. The store items cost to much at this point

We live in a gaming world where there’s content for whales. If you think $20 is too expensive for an armor, you’re not a target for that armor. (Me either, too rich for my blood)

It’s sad, but it’s the reality that there are tons of rich people who loves games, and F2P games use them for funding

its ridiculous and the monetization in this game is out of control, if this is the price of free to play I’d rather the game just stay 60 dollars. Whats the worst is that as far as I can tell you can’t even earn a lot of the armor in the game, its just locked in a store for you to pay at ridiculous prices, this game really doesn’t feel player first in its monetization at all, there’s too much to buy if you actually want everything.

343 confirmed the samurai armor core will be a free event pass. At least I remember reading that.

Worst part is that the pieces that come with that armor set can’t be used with whatever other armor pieces you want, they only work with other pieces that use the same armor core.

The one that really has me scratching my head over the price is the one that comes with a warthog bumper, an emblem and a color scheme for $15. I don’t care what world you live in but that is absolutely atrocious pricing. Then $10 for a helmet, visor, forehead attatchment and color scheme. $5 for 4 emblems.

Then you have a really bonkers one, $2 for 2 xp boosts and 2 challenge skips while the cost of a full on level skip is also $2, why would any sane person pay $2 for xp boosts and challenge skips when they can pay the exact same for a straight up level skip even though $2 for both things is way too much? Seems like nothing short of a way to scam people not paying full attention out of their money.

Their entire monetization setup for this game is absolute trash, i would rather buy $10 map packs every couple months and have a regular unlock system like we have had with every other halo game.

Not limited to HALO Inifnite
Cosmetic accessories are expensive in F2P games, aren’t they?
However, I’m certainly worried that HALO is more expensive than Fortnite.

I think I’ll buy it when I want it …

PLUS $15-20 for like: a skin/armor piece, “coating”, and an emblem that you probably don’t want.
I get that this system brings in stupid amounts of money for them but… man, it hurts everyone who doesn’t want to spend $15 on a single warthog bumper.

The problem with giving the premium pass to campaign purchasers - after 6 seasons, they lose a ton of money. Not to mention the fact that a TON of people will play via gamepass instead.

But thEy HAve To Make monEy sOMehoW.

Seriously this is about a worse case scenario for F2P Halo even without P2W elements. Its exactly why I was concerned when they first announced it was going F2P.

I would really love to play some AAA shooters without this tedious by design garbage bringing down the experience.

How much money have you spent on it so far?

They spent the effort to make it and we don’t have a way to earn it, pretty lame tbh. I’d rather pay 60 and have content available than have a dumb -Yoink!- cash shop. I hope the campaign is worth the 60. MP monetization is already worse than every other halo. F*ck F2P.

I mean they aren’t going to be making any money once people realize they have no chance in hell of ever completing any of the seasons so why waste the money on paying for them in the first place. They also won’t be making money from sane people not willing to fork over $15 for a warthog bumper or $5 for 4 emblems that look like they were made in ms paint.

If they want people to give them money they need a better progression system people actually have a chance of completing and significantly better pricing for everything else in the store. I don’t care if a season is unlocked forever and thus can work on it for 5 years if i will most likely never play enough matches to actually accomplish it.

Seriously, if my math is correct we are looking at a minimum of 1000 matches to get to level 100, if not way more than that considering weeklies are limited and dailies end up taking at least 3 matches each to complete so more reasonable estimates are closer to 1500 to 2000 matches for a single season. For comparison, when i was a kid and had all the time in the world i only played roughly 3k matches in halo 2.

This. Before learning that the BP wouldn’t have normal, skill-based progression, I was actually willing to fork over $10 for some armor. That’s not too bad. But now seeing that these -Yoink!- want my money AND are still making me do those trash “challenges” for the RIGHT to unlock 10-year-old armor… -Yoink!-. THAT.

We’ll see if they cave (they won’t), but we’re dragging them through the mud until they make something consumer friendly.

20 pieces out of the total 101 in the battle pass are free. The entire reach set is locked behind the premium pass pay wall. If you take everything paid currently, roughly about 85-90% of the armor customization options are paid only. It gets worse, compared to its predicessors, Halo infinite has the lowest amount of player customization by a large margin. They wanted to emphasize player expression(at a price).

I hope Angry joe covers this issue, in order to get attention to this problem at large.

Their official response to req pack frustrations in H5 was “Shut your pie-hole the grownups are talking”, and you didn’t expect them to bend you over in this game? 343 needs to be dissolved and the halo rights licensed out to competent studios. 343 only cares about screwing you over to make a buck. Lazy jerks.

I figured much of the customization would be behind a paywall, that’s part one of the catch to get the reach like customization people wanted back, part two: $20 pieces lulz. Just wait till they put up something they think is worth even more and it’s just a gun skin or something. Going F2P is going to butcher this game

Honestly every time they said it was player first was just a bold faced lie. Nothing about Infinites monetization scheme is player first.

I’m seriously hoping on release that the campaign comes with Campaign exclusive skins, charms, Icons, etc.

Exclusive campaign stuff would be nice but the way there handling unlocks at the moment irritates me to no end. 343i doesn’t seem to care about the fanbase. Learnt this the hard way they decided to remove radar from ranked for some stupid ranked then made unlocks impossible to earn.

While I agree with you OP that the amount of FOMO and “money milking items” is insane, even for a “modern GaaS” they do have to make money somehow and thank good all the stuff is cosmetic only. Yes it sucks that there is so much locked behind a paywal and costumization was and still is somewhat a pillar that made Halo MP fun and awesome, but it is not mandatory. I’ve seen people demanding Premium Currency in the Battlepass so they could buy the next one too if they complete the first one, completely forgetting that Infinites BPs never expire, so you’d technically only ever buy 1 pass if that were implemented.

I think the biggest Issue is that like you said, the price is very high for those sets, they aren’t available anywhere else and there is lots of them on top of BP.

I think the best solution would have been to move armor pieces of those sets into BP, like every 25 levels or so and rotate some of the BP stuff out into a free BP tier, which currently is completely absent, which is a shame. On top of that, I do hope like others have said that they will introduce SP unlocks for MP, example for completing Campaign on Legendary etc.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer claims to be “the full multiplayer” but also comes with a “beta” tag and I hope 343i is just testing out the waters. Halo Infinite had a very, very troubled development as seen by the 1 year delay and even that was IMHO a bit short. I’d have said 2 years delay but here we are now and I am happy and glad nonetheless about the release, but some things still feel not really though through and fleshed out.

343i already stated that they will look into multiple things like Progression system and Player Collision, so all we can do is voice our concerns and hope that 343i does what’s best for them and for us. We all will have to find a middle ground though as I don’t see a way to make everyone happy, but that’s just how it always is in life I guess.
