Why do you want crazy things in Halo 4?

Pelican- Available in Halo: CE and Halo: Reach campaign to drive. Not fun in Reach and particularly slow. CE Pelican is over powered, but slow.

Scarab- Available in Halo: CE and taste of it in Halo 2. CE slow and overpowered, can be taken over quickly, probably won’t be alive on the map for more than a minute. Halo 2 you get the Scarab gun, powerful, but gets boring after use for about 15 seconds.

Planet sized Forge World- Available no where. There is no need for a map larger than sandbox. Playable maps barely tak up 1/4 of Forge world, let alone a planet.

Anything else? Add on if I’m missing stuff.

Pelicans would just be fun to drive or ride in for forge and customs, for me at least. Plus it would be great for Machinimas.

Scarabs, I agree with you on. They are rediculously big for a map even the size of Forge World, and would just be too much effort to implement on a Halo game for console. Besides, like you said, we can drive them in CE, and use the Scarab gun in Halo 2. If that isn’t enough, then you can command squads of them in Halo Wars.

Planet Size Forge World is rediculous and would be almost impossible to implement given disk size and the lag it would create. Not even Minecraft for Xbox has a seemingly infinite world to build stuff in. It’s just the Xbox 360’s limitations.

You also missed the blank map creator where you can carve out land and make them snowy mountains or flat deserts that people were asking about way before the Forge mode in Halo 4 was revieled to the public.

To sum it all up, people expect big things to come out of an upcoming Halo title, some expectations bigger than others. However, some let excitement get to them and expect a large leap of improvements form previous titles, not taking disk space and console limitations into consideration, and are dissapointed when they don’t get it exactly as they expect it to be.

Lol, planet size Forgeworld? Who in their right mind would want that?

I get bored just flying around Forgeworld sized Forgeworld. That is a big no thankyou from me.

Well a few months ago we got a topic everyday saying " WE WANT IT 343 GIVE IT TO US!"

Pelican can make sense. but Transport Falcon will very much do the job.

Scarabs? No, that’s crazy.

Planet-sized Forge World!? what year are we in!? 2557!?

Forge sized world?
You want to be God?

Wow…it took me a minute to realize that Halo CE was for Custom Edition and not combat evolved. I was trying so hard to think of a hidden Scarab in the first Halo…but then it hit me.

Anyways, some people should just be content with whatever 343 decides to give us and not have crazy expectations.

I think the gulch is 500 meters. So more than 1 square km.

Pelicans in CE are not game specific designed pelicans. The pelican in reach wasn’t as fun because the controls for it weren’t partiticularly good.

what??

OP, I was going to agree you but after thinking about what Bungie did, depriving us of Scarab gun level toys, I really want to operate massive and large things in H4. Just one mission where we get to destroy things as a pilot and not merely as a gunner. I want Hornet/Falcon on steroids. Just one mission segment. There was going to be a mission in Reach which had players piloting the Scarab… Make it happen 343!

Sorry but we’ll have to wait until 2557 to get a planet-sized Forge World :stuck_out_tongue:

I can tell you why people want crazy things by making a little analogy. I think it is safe to say most gamers are familiar with the Super Smash Bros. series. In that game there are two different types of players. The ones who play on crazy maps with all items on and the ones who only play final destination with no items. It is the casual vs. the hardcore. Casual gamers happen to like the asymmetric gameplay (Meaning the experience is not equal all around - zombies for example) and the inclusion of a scarab would only add to the gameplay possibilities for CUSTOM. If you don’t play custom games then of coarse you don’t want these things, they don’t make sense for competitive gameplay. But every time we lose something we also lose a gametype. One of my favorite custom games relies on armor-lock being an AA. Do I care if it’s in MP? He11 no. Do I want to be destroyed by someone in a scarab in MP? No. Do I want to play Tower of Power (Only H2 custom gamers will remember this one, the detachable turrets later on made it impossible) with a scarab rather than a turret? Sign me up. Also, A planet sized forge world is unrealistic and dumb. But being able to sculpt the landscape is not Farcry has been doing it for ages.

Just so everyone knows, when Spartan Glacier says Halo CE, he means Halo Custom Edition, I’m betting he came from the PC community, where we refer Halo CE for the PC as Halo PC, and Halo Custom Edition as Halo CE.

as for Pelicans and Scarabs, I’ve seen a few threads asking for those vehicles, Scarabs are too big for most maps, and is plainly over powered, and balancing it is like trying to balance a shoulder mounted nuke launcher with a plasma pistol. Pelicans would be fun, but like OP has pointed out, most playable maps in Halo don’t even take up that much space in forge world, which is the biggest official Halo map too date, granted a pelican would be great for a map the size of forge world, but do you really think people would use it other than for machinima or custom games? No, because teams aren’t even large enough to even be useful.

The only way I can see a pelican being in MP as a drive able craft, is if Halo’s MP was that of Battle Fields, very large number of players, on very large maps, with tons of vehicles, something I don’t see happening because most people like CQB maps, where they can kill people with their shotguns, BRs, ARs, Dual Wields, and every thing between. Hell, I’ve seen people complaining that maps are no longer small because of sprint, imagine how people would react to maps the size of forge world as a normal size map.

Planet sized forge world… I’ve yet to see any threads asking for that, at lest here on Waypoint, I’ve seen threads asking for a bigger forge world, but never saying “I want a forge world map the size of a planet!”
