We know master chief has gone rouge, we know agent Locke is supposed to bring him back, the question is why.

Because Chief is probably going insane (him hearing the Didact in his head hints he has his geas and I have a feeling the Didacts insanity may leak over to Chief) and is overly obsessed with making sure everything is safe to the detriment of his own safety.

Well, there are many signs. Halsey basically teamed up with covenant, 117 abandoned UNSC and he is who knows where (trying to rescue Cortana, with Mendicant Bias help), Locke is after him with Arbiter, and maybe Flood and Didact will return.

I personally think that the Master Chief is supposed to be a metaphor for all the anti-sprint people. He tries to search for Cortana (A better game), while the UNSC (343i) sends out their man hunter, Agent Locke (The pointless shills who try to defend every decision of their favorite company with illiterate and nonsensical rebuttals) to bring back (Release a biased and deceptive poll to justify their decisions) the Master Chief (The fans that will/already leave/left Halo due to the general direction it is taking because of the developer’s stubborn and childish reasoning).
But that’s just a theory, I suppose.
