Why do you prefer halo 3 over reach

I am not trolling halo 3. I just would like a legitimate answer to why you prefer halo 3.

I still play customs and the multiplayer BTB maps are good, too, but reach is still my favorite because it is more evolved in customization, forge, multiplayer, etc. And trust me, it isn’t easier in any way, shape, form, or fashion.

I just sometimes see people making fun of reach but not giving a real reason.

So what are your reasons.

Reach is my favorite too.

I think nostalgia plays a large factor, though.

A ranking system.
BR, no bloom.
Good maps.

Reach wins only with Forge, Firefight, custom game options & less lag online.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

I actually like Bloom, it stopped spamming of weapoons like DMR. As for games, there is a lot I like Reach. But where I think Halo 3 beats it;

Voice acting

  • Better choice of voice actors for marines, ODSTs, etc. You had so many voice actors for these soldiers and so many lines of combat dialogue, and I’ve had this game since 2008 and even when I play it today, there are new lines of combat dialogue that I’ve not heard before. Reach felt like there where 4 actors.
  • In Story mode of Halo 3, the one thing that I think Bungie nailed was stuff like, when you’d meet soldiers, they where like, “The Chief!” Like you where a total bad–Yoink-, which made you feel like a total bad–Yoink-, the enemy would cry out “Demon!!” which again added only to the epicness of the missions. While I really like Reach’s story mode, this is another place where Reach I think fell short.

Music

  • Music, I’d have to give the Music to Reach, the music to Halo 3 was good, had a lot of nostalgia to it, but it felt a bit ‘happy clappy’, whereas the musical choices made in reach, made it feel a lot more desperate.

Enemies

  • This is difficult, as I really enjoyed fighting Brutes, they where a really good enemy to go toe to toe with, pack of them, really good encounters. But the elites in Reach where just on another level, especially on the more difficult settings, Legendry with a few skulls on, made elites proper bad–Yoink-. But then the enemies didn’t speak your language, I always thought they’d add a skull in there so you could understand what the enemies where going to say. Seemed I was wrong, I’d have to give this one a tie.

Weapons
I did feel a lot of weapons where not balanced, like the focus rifle for example, fuel-rod cannon, way to overpowered. And some weapons seemed alittle pointless, like the plasma repeater and plasma rifle. Why would I opt for a handgun, if I could get a hold of DMR, they where basically the same weapon, one being more powerful than the first, made you lose the uniqueness of the weapon. But the sound of each weapon was epic, but I’d still give this to Halo 3, as the weapons where alot more balanced.

Story
While I really like Reach, it was riddled with contradictions with regards to the fiction that was already put out, like The Fall of Reach, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx. Hence I have to give this one to Halo 3.

Graphics
Reaches graphics where epic, but the one thing that became kinda lost was the lighting, that Halo 3, epic lighting could no longer be found, that epic lighting which was also in Halo 3 ODST. But overall the graphics where alot better, more detail, more polygons, higher quality in game models, so I have to give this one to Reach.

Multiplayer Maps
While the graphics where a lot better, the one thing that I really did not like was recycling maps from story-mode. Halo 3’s, maps where unique while still based in the same world that the story-mode was in. Like Construct for example, it was meant to be based on the Ark, from the mission the Ark at the end where you’ve pitted against a pack of brutes. But the maps where good, very good, so this one is a bit of toss-up. I’d have to give this Halo 3, %60 and Reach %40.

There was a lot that Reach did right, but there was a fair few things that I was not happy with. Bloom was something that I think Reach did right, as was Forge, but having just one big forge-world, with no option to change the backdrop to your fight was a mistake I think.

I think Halo 4, will wipe the floor with everything that has been put out before. But only time will tell. I for one am really looking forward to it.

No, just no in every you mentioned isn’t true. The acting was horrible, the story was pretty, the music was barely remotely interesting in Reach. Even Odst did a better job with the music, Reach ruined firefight while Odst may have had lag for certain games it was still brilliant when I could find a decent working server.

Don’t even get me started on the difficulty because it was severly dumbed down in difficulty, could be completed in a couple of hours on legendary in Reach, even the Ai were too easy to kill. I completed the normal run, the legendary with the first 2 days of release. But for Halo 3 I enjoyed every minute of the campaign but Reach was copy, paste.

Everything about Reach was wrong. The only thing that is remotely like Halo 3’s multiplayer was multi team but it was quick to get into a fight but was ruined by annoying spammers constantly jetpacking with their stupid unlimited reload nonsense or maybe countering a perfectly thrown grenade just to be a noob, use stupid armor lock which takes no skill whatsoever.

Even the environment graphics were pretty plain, the 3d models needed updating to look like updated halo 3 models, I miss the talking grunts slagging off the chief in the background.

Agreed think the maps were a lot better but that’s just me.

Story, maps, game play, atmosphere and art style were all better than Reach’s.

Campaign
Battle Rifle
Highest Skill
Ranking System
Map variety
Armor Abilities

-campaign
-don’t need to deal with mini nukes ( nades )
-no armor lock
-health. nothing’s more annoying than just killed enemy while having half of health left+full shield and get instantly dead by mini nukes
-sh*tloads of fun with non-paper vehicles

Positives-

Better MP maps
Better Campaign
Better Elite Armor
No Fall Damage! Fall damage limits map creativity
I like BR better
Ar is actually strong.

Negatives-

those god-forsaken Lone Wolves achievements
same amount of quitters as in Reach
More AFKers in my opinion
takes longer to find a match anymore
servers are bad, I would like the grenade I throw to go when I throw it, not 5 seconds later.
Ruder community.

Halo 3 positives
BR
Master Chief
Movement
Map flow
Forge
Bleedthrough
Dual-wielding
Campaign was good
Playlists require maps
Ranking Systems
Unique maps
Always fun
More…

Halo 3 Negatives
AFK’ers
Sgt Johnson dies.
Quitters

Halo Reach positives
Forge and Custom games
Some playlists are fun
Some other things were done well

Halo Reach Negatives
Bloom
Armor Abilities (Sprint Hologram and Active Camo are except able)
Didn’t like the Spartan 3 feel in Campaign
Fall damage
Maps were all grey and made in forge.
And more…

Don’t get me wrong Halo Reach is still a good game, It just didn’t live up to it’s glorious name like in past titles.

This is why I prefer Halo 3.
