Why do you play FFA?

I cant play it, i can’t. It’s too unbalanced and just not fair. The spawns, the spawn kills, clean-up crews, I can’t deal with the raging as well over those.
If you play and like FFA, why?

EDIT* What I said above was my take on the old FFA, I played some games and i actually like it now. It’s not chaotic anymore, I think because now they went from 8 players to 6 players. And sometimes I can’t find people on the map. My take on the FFA now is that if you like to be a lone wolf, play it

I prefer team-based challenges.

I’d prefer Action sack over FFA but I hate that mongoose sumo and dimishing kings.

I imagine FFA is a better representation of personal performance and skill over team-based game modes.

I just play it to get a rank in it. Don’t really play it much more after my placement matches. It’s pretty easy to rank up since you don’t have to actually win to gain CSR, so kinda takes the fun out of it since I’m not making anyone suffer when I win.

I started with this (FFA) being my main game type, but I haven’t played it in a very long time.

That said, I do think it may be the best game type to hone your one-on-one skills. Also, if you’re a solo player, you definitely have more control over your destinty with FFA…as opposed to other team-based arena games where random teammates that quit games are more likely to hurt your chances.

The trick is never ever rage. Playing FFA increases your shot, skill, positioning, map awareness. Everything. No teammates to hide behind and depend on.

Great game mode

I play FFA to improve at the game overall, and have fun while doing it. For some “sweating” in such a competitive playlist might not be enjoyable, but it is to me. While the spawns do frustrate me, it doesn’t bother me too much. I also like having control over if I win or lose, and it’s entirely dependent on my skill, not teammates.

I play FFA whenever I get tired of playing objective game modes and team slayer. Sometimes I can’t be bothered to work with other players who may or may not be good.

I used to play FFA in Halo 5, but I’ve given up on. It’s nothing like Rumble Pit in the previous games. All the maps seem to have been specifically designed for team games, and as a result none of them play well in FFA. Halo 5’s various problems- like Spartan Charge and reduced motion tracker range- compound the problems with FFA. I’m better off going back to Halo: Reach and hopping in that game’s Rumble Pit. In that game I have a motion tracker that is actually useful, and there’s no Spartan Charge.

Let’s just say I enjoy the chaos occasionally. I think it helps me handle stressful situations in team play better. Partly because you have essentially have seen it all in terms of mosh pits etc. I also credit FFA for helping my creative nades and bounce angles to get me out of jams. It has also taught me to be more aggressive in general although sometimes I play like an overconfident meathead when I should be disciplined in team play. I am a naturally very aggressive player but sometimes I have to remind myself to be even more aggressive in FFA. It’s all about finding as many fights as humanly possible. Sure K/D can help a little but if I came in 2nd and the 1st place guy found 15 more fights than I did than I failed miserably. Find the fights and be chaotically reliable.

That being said I agree with the above post. Rumble Pit was a great gametype for me. It was the only gametype where I cracked the top 1000 in Halo 2. I read the radar to plan my fight patterns but now the radar is so tight it forces you to just look at your screen and imagine there is no radar at all. Spartan charge is also extremely tough to combat in FFA and I will be the 1st to admit I am far from perfecting how to deal with it. With Halo 5 even though reducing the size from 8 to 6 players definitely helped the spawn traps it does feel a little less chaotic now which I don’t like quite as much. It can still be pretty fun though.

I played it a couple of times, but then it lost its feeling to it.

Well if it only rewarded wins almost everyone would be a Bronze because if you won 51% of your games you would barely rank up but yet you would have more than 3 times the win than the avg FFA player. So they definitely have to rank up the top 3. It has changed quite a few times though. Now I think it only punishes 5th and 6th place correct?

I used to play FFA all the time in previous games, but it’s awful in H5.

This is definitely true. However, Halo 5’s is just not balanced at all. Now its just who gets lucky and spawns on the rocket launcher or sniper. I used to find it fun, but I got tired of always going negative due to either being double-teamed or somebody else swooping in to kill me and my victim. Also grenade spam seems 10 times worse in FFA because there is no drawback to it-- You can’t potentially damage a teammate because you don’t have teammates, so you can pull the pin and throw wherever you want.

Weapon spawns need to be severely adjusted, as for grenade spawn locations and timers, and some spawn points

I used to play FFA due to the fact that I have a tendency to charge into a mob of enemies and attempt to take them all at once.

I used to be a Diamond II in the gamemode, but it was too rage-inducing after a while.

My best score in FFA was 25 - 4.

If you just want to see how high a rank you can get, it’s ok for that because the ranking scheme is generous in. Luck can be a huge factor though, stealing kills is a big part of it, and lucky or unlucky spawns. To me it’s not the best representation of personal skill because you rarely get a 1v1, someone else is always throwing shots into your gunfight. Too frustrating for my tastes

I really don’t enjoy FFA because its random and takes little skill. Not to mention its super easy to rank up. Once I ranked 5th and still gained CSR.

This… and I solo play and the quitters have ruined any “team” based ranked playlist for me. I will only play non ranked team stuff. I love FFA. To me it’s the toughest playlist.

Not really into FFA. Only do FFA with friends using splitscreen which Halo 5 lacks. I prefer going into Team-based games alone without a fireteam.
