Why do you people enjoy fighting flood?

I hate fighting the flood. I hate those little popper things that pesker you wherever you go. The flood levels usually take forever to finish and the flood levels are usually meticulous and repetetive.

The flood are a challenge and a break up from the rest of the game. That being said, their main draw for me is that they are somewhat frightening. At least they were. Maybe i’m the only one, but I thought they were pretty pathetic in Halo 3. They are supposed to be like the creature from “the thing”. They take organic matter and sort of mold it to their needs, which is a little freaky. If they come back, they need to be far more frightening then they were in halo 3, and they need to actually be a threat to the player in the game, not just something in your way.

Really? I thought Halo 3 had some of the best Flood in a Halo game yet, prior to H2A. I really don’t like the Flood models in H2C or HCE ( I guess I like realisticish looking enemies), but HCEA, H2A, and H3, in my opinion, had the greatest models in the games. Now, the Flood AI is another thing, H2 hands down has the best AI for all units, friendly or otherwise.

Graphics wise, I agree. Both anniversary editions have great looking flood and the AI in 2 is fantastic. In 3 the flood didn’t feel like a tangible threat. You could take down the combat forms in one shot, the infection forms were sort of useless. Very weak. I didn’t find myself enjoying the sections of Halo 3 that featured them at all.

Halo CE Flood was the best. Halo 2 Flood was the worst thing ever. Halo 3 Flood was pretty good.

The only flood level I’ve really hated was Cortana.

shudders

I’ve always liked the Flood because they provided a change of scenery and tactics. Every time I fight them I feel like they live up to their reputation of being a parasite that will slowly overwhelm you and consume you, if not immediately. I love how, every time they’re introduced in the story, the entire focus of the plot and all the affiliations between characters shift nearly 180 degrees. I love them because they are used sparingly, and when I see them, I usually get a level the likes of which I’d never seen before. (I love the Library and Quarantine Zone for reasons that shock everyone else I talk to and myself)

Maybe I’m just a noob who hasn’t replayed the originals enough yet, but I really like how different they feel and how they are a piece in a grander puzzle. And I love the Gravemind and his poetic, subtle, Lovecraftian horror. I do think H3 flood were icky though. Pure forms can kindly go die in a hole - one preferably filled with disgruntled Sentinels.</div>

Do not mind fighting the Flood, some of the Flood levels have been my favourite levels in Halo history, such as Qurantine Zone. They bring a scare factor and to this day, the level 343 Guilty Spark still makes me shiver. I think the Flood however were at their best in Halo 2. The loud screeching sounds they made a certain points and they seemed to move, run and jump alot faster than they did in both Halo 1 and 3. This in my opinion made them more frightening and menacing.

I don’t mind fighting the flood, if they added it, it’s okay for me. But i hate flood levels. The first time i played a flood level, and they just kept spawning and swarming annoyed me. At least they give you a shotgun in most of their levels, which is pretty good for killing flood.

Because space zombies are cool.

Because they are different and really cool

I liked them because they rush you like zombies, they are crazy looking, they can come in so many different forms.

Yes the cortana level on three was a little to crazy, but for the most part I had a lot of crazy moments and close calls with the flood.

One of my favorite things about them is the variety, they could take over any Ai, drive vehicles, and use weapons.

I would love to see the flood forms of grunts, jackals, drones, and maybe animals that roam the game, like moa or the huge monsters with tusks in reach. Maybe even a bear, or wolf the flood are awesome because they don’t have much limits in what they can be.

I’m kinda conflicted. On one hand I like the challenge they bring to the table, on the other dealing with them over and over again quickly feels like a chore.
If something can be done to make every Flood encounter a tad more interesting than the last one it’d be great.

Also spraying your gun and plowing through hordes of enemies feels awesome.

  1. Theyre more fun to fight that prometheans
  2. You can make them explode and chop them up with the sword
  3. They look cool
  4. They are not jackal snipers
  5. Mowing down popcorn with an AR is very satisfying

The Flood is the equivalent of zombies in the Halo universe.

Zombies are unlimited hordes of enemies, and people sure love killing zombies.

I enjoyed fighting the Flood in the original Halo trilogy, but I believe they should “evolve”, to say it this way, into more complex enemies. Perhaps all the Halo enemies should adapt new strategies.

I want levels that take forever to finish, I don’t want a 8 hour campaign. I want something longer and memorable.

Variety is the spice of life. They also create 3-way battles which are fairly rare in other franchises. H4 only had these for like 1 level and then they teamed up.

They’re also an enemy that utilize the human sandbox.

I remember the first time me and a buddy beat The Library on legendary when halo one was the only thing around. It was tough and so exciting to beat that milestone. Such a pain though.

Ever since that day, I have hated the flood.

>:^) BUt in all honesty the flood were only good in halo CE I miss them and don’t at the same time I look forward to their return if its more like CE than the jokes they were in halo 2 and 3.

Flood >>> Prometheans

(When playing on Legendary);

I do not like the H3 Flood. Only really “floods” me in Cortana in very tight quarters and the “head” that is the pod makes most combat forms too easy… I do like how the body can be smashed or blown away.

Not really fond of the H2 Flood. They’re a little more docile than the CE Flood as they don’t seem to “flood” as much. Their hopping attack is a joke as its just a modified sword attack.

Now, CE’s Flood… I LOVE. There is only one strategy, FLOOD!!! And a couple weapons are all but useless against them… Or too useful and shouldn’t be used mindlessly because a Needler super-combine can come from a very long jumping combat form.
While some fear the Library of CE because of its tight corridors and seemingly never-ending monster closets, I crave it!
