Why do you need gold just play forge by yourself

Why is it that when I want to Forge alone, it requires gold? Even in offline?

The above quote takes into account that Forge on Xbox One requires Gold membership to access it. Alteratively, you can download Halo 5: Forge for PC (for free!) and without needing to pay Gold membership.

You shouldn’t have to pay an extra fee to get “the full experience” when you’ve already payed $60 for the game itself. There’s no reason why Forge shouldn’t be available offline on console. It’s extremely disappointing how pointless Halo 5 is without Gold. Microsoft has essentially made it a necessity to buy gold to play Halo 5 which is one of the worst aspects of the game in my opinion. I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t be happy spending $60 on a game to find out all I got was a mediocre 4 hour campaign and solo custom games.

That quote is just another example of publishers’ shady business practices working. The only reason you have to pay for Gold to access Forge is so that Microsoft makes more money. They know Forge is important which is why they put it behind that pay wall.

Same reason for no split-screen. The Xbox can handle it fine seeing as other series do it still. The exclusion of it was so that people would buy more Xboxes, copies of Halo, and Gold subscriptions.

So these days, instead of relying on good marketing and delivering on those promises to create hype and sales, Microsoft believes they should push their development teams to puke out games as fast as possible and turn good franchises into nothing more than cash cows. Activision and EA do the same thing. I’m not saying video games weren’t profit-driven in the mid-2000s and very early 2010s, but back then there was a reliance on quality and passion for that money instead of underhanded trash like today.

You can play Forge and Customs matchmaking on pc totally free but you need a decent pc. As far as console, it is pathetic that H5 is useless with Gold. That’s the way gaming is heading though. Look for pure subscription gaming to be here soon. Here’s the pitch “Tired of season passes? Tired of loot crates? Tired of paying for Gold? SIgn up for the Halo 6 game pass and get all DLC* (read terms) and 2 loot crates a week for $10.99 a month”. *343 reserves the right to call any DLC an “expansion” and milk you further for $$.

especially when all previous halo games that have forge are free and can play offline
